Default Boxer Johnny Tapia OD's

anyone familiar with him? pound for pound he makes thugs like pacman jones and mike tyson look like pu$$ies. he was found in his hotel room unconscious a few days ago in critical condition but was upgraded to serious yesterday. his life has always been marred by tradgedy and trouble, in fact yesterday his brother in law died in a car crash on the way to the hospital to see him.

Johnny Lee Tapia (born February 13, 1967), better known as Johnny Tapia, is an American professional boxer. He has won world titles at featherweight, junior and bantamweight.

Tapia was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Early Years & Amateur Career
His nickname, "Mi Vida Loca" (My Crazy Life), is a reflection of his own troubled past. At age eight he witnessed the kidnapping of his own mother; she was tied up and taken away by a man who eventually raped and murdered her, her body found next to a road a few days later. (The murder has never been solved.)

Tapia started using drugs when he was a teenager. He also started a career in boxing, and became an Olympic hopeful. While he was still addicted to drugs, Tapia built a record of 150 wins and 12 losses as an amateur. His opponents included Arthur Johnson, Richard Duran and Todd Foster during this period.
win- 55
loss- 5
draw- 2
KO's- 28
you dont see many knockouts watching these bantam weights and feather weights, but tapia was a master. he was great to watch and just as crazy in the ring as he was in his life. many times he would stick out and offer his chin to an opponent as a free shot, to taunt and show he couldnt be knocked out. hate fueled him. drugs and gangs have almost ruined him. kind of a shame cause he was excellent in the ring.
