...also we are all aware that he DID play some WR in college and therefore his athletic ability transfers more easily to WR in the Pros than it does to QB.

He has averaged 7 TD's and 3 interceptions per year over his college career, completing 51.4 % of his passes ....I dont see him as a replacement for Charlie Batch anytime soon.
A good quaterback coach (which he did not have at Washington) could take his basic athletic ability and turn him into a good backup quaterback.

I'd rather draft an actual receiver than draft a project.

As the thread insinuated...Stanback might be worth taking a chance on in a late rounds due to A) His injury B) A needed change of position C) Athletic ability

any "reciever" who lasts until the sixth or seventh round...probably wouldnt be worth drafting...(Colston is the exception to the rule ...and nobody should be thinking that we will duplicate what the saint did last year.)

I'm not sure if we want to draft a player in order to "teach" him to be a QB after he played the position for 3+ years.

That being said..I agree with you that there is more to Stanback then most people see...and if we do draft him as a Qb...we have that Athletic ability to fall back on..so we can use him in some aspect.

I just don't like a spot on the active roster being taken by a guy we're trying to shoehorn into a position that we're already thin at. If he's picked with the idea of putting him on the practice squad for a season to see what he's got, that's ok.

But there's no way I want to see this kid anywhere near the active roster as a receiver next year.

I'm not sure if he will be ready at the beginning of next season...because of the injury....last I heard he still hadnt ran for anyone yet...(Which has GOT to hurt his stock)...since you are out that way....Have you heard anything about his recovery?

Negative. But getting sports info out of Seattle is like getting porn out of Iran.

The only football news that comes out of Seattle..inevitably has the words "If only"....and "Holmgen" attached to it.

I tried to have sympathy for Seattle after the Super Bowl, but it's so damn hard to do! Those fans up there are some of the most arrogant people I've ever met. I work with some people from the Seattle area and I still marvel at the level of disdain they have for almost every other area in the US.

i like that idea of changing Stanback to a WR but i like the idea of claming the right to jeff samardzija in the 7th round if no ones thinking the same thing. i think he is going to make a good Pitcher in the MLB but i think he would make an even better receiver.

I'm not interested in a possesion receiver with a bad attitude.
