You can make a whole team of former Pirates. Chris Shelton, Aramis Rameriez, Young, Arroyo, Craig Wilson, Jason Schmidt, etc...

I forgot to mention Schmidt - another Cam Bonifay special. And the Ramirez deal will live in infamy as one of the worst trades in team history, and the one that factored heavily into Bonifay finally being fired. Neither Shelton nor Wilson are in the league right now, so those don't really bother me all that much. Bottom line though is that incompetence is the staple of this franchise, as evidenced once again by Dave Littlefield considering YET ANOTHER PITCHER in the first round of the draft this week. Hey Dave - we need guys who can hit! Hello??!!!!

Thank God we traded Perez...

....

X is great to have around, but that one stings just a bit considering what Perez has been up to this year. And especially after seeing what Duke has been doing.

Braves fans do the Tomahawk chop

Pirate fans?

Maybe we could have traded Torres in the X deal. But who say it would still have gotten done?

Upper management should extend Torres and Littlefield ASAP....and of course Cota. That's the only way this pathetic ball club will reach .500.

Pirates promote Kuwata, place Torres on DL
Saturday, June 09, 2007

By Dejan Kovacevic, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

NEW YORK - The Pirates today promoted reliever Masumi Kuwata from Class AAA Indianapolis and placed reliever Salomon Torres on the 15-day disabled list because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Kuwata, 38, will be the first Japanese player in franchise history once he sees action. He is en route to Yankee Stadium and likely will not be available for the game this afternoon.

He missed most of the season to a severely sprained right ankle, sustained in spring training, then returned last week to pitch three scoreless outings.

Torres, who has had massive struggles in the past week, informed the team of his discomfort after his latest poor outing Friday, in which he hit a batter and gave up an RBI single with the only two men he faced.

More details in tomorrow's Post-Gazette.

Even though it was injury that put him off, at least someone can have a chance.
