We implemented a "Pro-Active Task Force" in our twin cities...Made up of bothof our cities officers and the county deputies....Their sole purpose was to be visible and to actually approach and talk to gang members on a regualr basis....we know what cars they drive...what neighborhoods they are from...who they hang out with..and what "circuit" they follow so that we can keep in touch with neighboring cities.

Our crime rate dropped significantly...and the "thugs" tend to go to another city in their circuit to avoid police contact...(Harder to be a thug when you KNOW that the Po-Po KNOW you... are know what your M.O. is ..)....they also tend to not "hang out" very much...because they know Officer Friendly will be making small talk with any one in the neighborhood who is out and about in the name of "community policing"

Hopefully our next mayor has his arms wrapped around this problem before it gets too big and starts to hurt the economic growth of the city.

Well, I moved to big bad Detroit, and although it isn't as bad as it's perception, it is still pretty bad. No one goes downtown unless you are specifically going to a game or to a casino. The area around the new Ford Field and Comerica (which looks exactly like PNC Park) are nice and ok to be around at night, but some of the surrounding areas are very scary.

There really isn't a South Side or Strip or Waterfront here. There are a couple places out in the Burbs, but that's it. We have what they openly call around here "White Flight" where, after the 60's riots, white folks have moved from the city and inner neighborhoods to the suburbs and beyond. Pittsburgh is a completely different cultural makeup.

I'm thankful I don't live there. Much rather live in Hollidaysburg or Pittsburgh. Much safer.

Well its a little known fact that ever since Ray was drafted in 1996. The Violent crime rate has gone up a staggering 120%. So you do the math...Ray Ray = Dead Bodies haha

Violent crime is up everywhere. Time to start construction on that mote or 10 ft electric fence around your house no matter where you live. It's not going to get any better.
