the hosts of "the afternoon blitz" in sirius radio have translated their work to a segment on NFL networks "total access" that i think is gonna be a regular and what they described as the back and forth seen on espn's PTI.
todays topic was the best/strongest division in the nfl. ive read several comment on this board in the past dogging solomon wilcots (i guess because hes an ex bengal and people think his middle name is chris collinsworth) but i have never heard him bash the steelers. infact he is an ex-steeler and always praises the rooneys and team. he obviously (is one of the few who) feels the steelers can make the superbowl this year. this is an interesting debate: Soloman- afc north his view is theres 3 teams with the capabilities to make it to the playoffs and have as good a chance as anybody to advance to the superbowl. Schein- nfc west his view is the browns drag down the afc north and because of them theres no way that division could be considered the best. he looks at the nfc west and sees 4 teams with the capabilities and talent to all get 8 wins or more although no more than possibly 1team can really be looked at as a superbowl contender. is the sum of the whole greater than its individual parts?

Without a doubt it's the AFC North. I may hate our division rivals, but when it comes to the AFC North competing against other division, I'll always be behind it. Unless I'm really, really ticked.
Three prime contenders in the division, plus the fact that no previous AFC North champion has repeated, and a second place finisher has recently won a Super Bowl (2005 Steelers), the AFC North is the toughest division in the league. |

Well the best division in football is definitely in the AFC - no question.
Last year I may have gone with the AFCW - with the Bronco's, Chargers and Chiefs all viable playoff contenders. This year my vote would be with the AFCN - The Ravens are an excellent team and the Steelers and Bengals figure to be in the 'good category'. The Browns will more than likely be awful - but the quality of the other 3 make that the best division in football.

They've been great for a while now, three Super Bowls' worth of great. But only this season have the New England Patriots become The Show, the must-see team of stars, pretty boys and reformed bad boys. Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless. The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed. |

I think Wilcots is a moron, but this other guy makes him look like Einstein, at least on this topic. Let me guess, this Schein clown is from the west coast? Seattle maybe.
Last year the NFC west was considered by most everyone as the weakest division is football. |

I think if it's going to be in the NFC, it's the east. But I think it's probably in the AFC, obviously. AFCN for me.

NFC West was more then weak then any division in football last year. They may have gotten a little stronger though with the signings by San Francisco.

i think its the AFCN North too but don't underestimate the NFCW. The seahawks are just about the same team that made it to the super bowl but when your all-pro quarterback AND all-pro running back go down its just hard to get anything done (imagine us without willie parker and ben playing like he did)
i think all four of those teams have the potential to make some big noise this year. |
