The Rooneys- Republican or Democrat?

since football is cold and politics is hot (right now) im wondering if our members know where the rooneys stand on most political issues. i have no idea, and honestly have never really thought about it. they have money to protect which makes me think they would vote republican, but art sr especially, and dan seemed to take social stances that would lead me to think they voted democratic.

anyways this was supposed to be a poll and i screwed it up. if a mod thinks it is worthy perhaps they can help:

a) dems like the kennedys
b) reps all the way
c) art dem, sons and family rep
d) are rep, sons and family dem
e) doesnt matter
f) mixead altogether and never been a family issue
g) results may make me root for another team

I don't know if it sheds all that much light on Art or Dan's political affiliations, but for what it's worth, apparently another of Art's grandsons (Dan's nephew), Tom Rooney, was looking at running for Bill Nelson's senate seat in Florida as a Republican, but then decided against it:

I usually avoid political posts, but what a bunch of crap that statement is.

I don't care what political party they are and I don't want to know. Politics have already ready ruined my music choices, my movie veiwing and my TV watching. Keep it away from my Steelers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AJR II sounds like a typical corporate Republican - wants everyone to let him run his business as he sees fit except when he wants a big taxpayer subsidy.

At least with the taxpayer assistance to build his stadium, it houses a team that actually wins games. He isn't greedy.

It works out great for me - the Steelers get a fat taxpayer gift which helps field a competitive team (and, just so we do not forget this is a business, also increases the market value of the Rooneys' stake in the team by hundreds of millions of $$$) and since I do not live in western PA it does not cost me a dime. If I still lived in western PA and was not a big Steelers fan I might have a different view (especially if I thought my vote counted when the subsidy was overwhelmingly rejected in 1997 but then found out the subsidy could then be logrolled through the ever obliging PA state legislature).

Having someone pay me a ton of money for something they do not want to pay for is not greedy - it is theft.

thats how it seems to me. i woulda voted option f) had this been an actual poll. the rooneys probably run the full gamut of the political spectrum. art II strikes me as the furthest right.

If I still lived in western PA and was not a big Steelers fan I might have a different view

lol. i dont bring up the steelers to my grandfather, unless i want him to go off and me get hollered at. i have several family members there who wouldnt have blinked if the steelers up and moved.
