Do the Steelers throw too many screens?

just about every time they throw to a back it's a screen play. you can almost sense when they are gonna do it. watching the bills game i said 3 times "it's gonna be a screen pass". i was right twice. and if i can sense it what about the other teams def? that one to parker almost backfired.

i wish they would throw more to willie but in the same way the chargers throw to l.t. or the eagles throw to westbrook. no linebacker can keep up with him. there's gotta be a way to get him 1 on 1 with a lb.

and i think they should run davenport inside the 5 yard line. willie is too small to plow into 1 or 2 guys and move them backwards. davenport runs through guys between the 20's so he should be able to do the same in close.

great start to the year so far, couldn't be more happy.

Completely disagree. Willie was hitting guys up in the middle and moving a number of people. It was really nice to see. Sure, Davenport is hitting 4 and 5 people, but Willie is doing a good job moving people.

And no, screens are great. It makes defenses slow down the pass rush.

the steelers won 26-3 against the bills. and 34-7 the week before.

so i guess the answer is "no".

i just can't get the vision of willie fumbling vs the eagles in preseason at the goaline, or the way he got stoned at the goaline vs the bills on sunday out of my head.

i'd just like to see some new plays. whatever it takes to get the ball to willie more, especially in open space.

I like the screen plays. The Steelers seemed to go completely away from the screen play the past 3 or 4 years so I'm glad to see that it's back. The Steelers used the screen play quite a bit in the mid-90's with Barry Foster and it was very successful.

I have to agree with the preacher on this one screens are great to keep the deffense on there toes and I think willie is hitting harder this year.

Screen plays by design are aimed at nuetralizing overly aggressive pash rushers, which Buffaloe's DEs Schoebel & Kelsay are. Have to gove credit where it's due, their LBs were having none of it....

My problem with the screens is this. Not that they run too many, just that they run them with Davenport. Every time I see Davenport get about 10 yards on a screen I almost cry. Why? Because Parker could have gone all the way. I don't understand why they are using Davenport on screens, when history shows Willie has been more successful at them. I am happy with the play calls this year, just not always the personnel to execute.
