i cant wait for tomorrows "ricky bobby 400".. how bout all the international open wheel flavor? juan pablo montoya and jaques villeneuve in the show??? ![]() next year dario franchitti is rumored to make the switch? ![]() OMFG and "Dear Baby Jesus..." NASCAR cant take the races overseas, but they seem to have no problem bringing the overseas racers here. i wonder if villeneuves team is being subsidized. with sam hornish jr. on the edge, and speculation of d. patrick making the switch there could be alot of competition for the busch series 'necks constantly trying to make the shows. i think NASCAR would rather have a jaques make the race as opposed to a kevin grubb anyways. i hate when a talladega race conflicts with a steelers game.

Thank gawd for Tivo - I record the race and watch it later.
btw - Franchitti is no rumor...he's got the #40 - Stremme is looking for a new ride. I still say Jack should hire Danica.....that would be a hoot. Villeneuve hopes to silence critics at Talladega TALLADEGA, Ala. -- If Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve's skin wasn't thick after years of racing in Formula One, it is now. The world-class, championship caliber driver spent Friday preparing to qualify for his first Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway under fire from several top Cup drivers who claimed he didn't belong on the track. "I don't think that they're saying I'm not qualified. They are concerned for their Chase. In their shoes, I would say the same thing. You don't want any unknowns out there," said the 36-year-old Villeneuve after final practice Friday. "But at the same time I've always tried to race intelligently and I'm not here to try and be a hero." http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head...ega/index.html Franchitti joining Ganassi's Cup team Dario Franchitti became the latest open-wheel star to give stock cars a try when he was introduced Wednesday as the driver of Chip Ganassi's No. 40 Dodge at a news conference in Charlotte, N.C. Franchitti, who is leaving the IndySeries and will replace David Stremme at Ganassi, will become the first European to enter NASCAR full-time. |

This COT car spooks me....
During practice all the Fords were running around by themselves in their own pack. Why not do that during the race? Why race around in that whirling blender when you can hang a corner or so back in your own group and run clean? I've always wondered that.....it's not like you're gonna go a lap down at the 'Dega if you're running half a lap back. The last 10 laps is where it really heats up....all the rest is holding you're breath. |

The guys who run well in the draft run well in the draft regardless of the template. No surprise that the best drivers finished up front. The COT throws the whole template advantage argument right out the window.

poor showing by all the earnhardt jr fans sunday. i dont think i saw a single item tossed at gordons car. have they been neutered like the "new" dawg pound now that jr. has crossed over to the darkside?
for about 10 seconds i briefly thought team penske had a chance. then i remembered the 60 or so restrictor plate races i have seen in the past. nobody will push a penske driver to the end. theyre pretty much doo-doo pushers for everybody else. only a miracle prevented a huge wreck when pablo, and stewart got in kurt and ryans gravy train to the front. im not sure ive seen 4 cars bump drafting so hard everywhere on the track.

I think the Jr. fans DID finally figure out that it's better to throw the beer cans at themselves. It's an exercise in self-hatred, and there's also a small chance that they can consume a little bit of that beer rather then wasting it all over the track.
