Opening up??

So there were a few times last night where the Steelers started with the shotgun, and 3-4 wides, spread...and then it went back to the run. Was I the only one disappointed with this approach? Ben usually gets a good rhythm in with these packages and he needed it last night.

Was anyone else looking for the opening up but was somewhat disapppointed?

I was disappointed with their single back looks when they had like 3 tight ends on one side with Max Starks as a tightend

That was just stupid. I still think we need to get the traditional offense back more often with Kreider as full back

The 4 WR spread formations actually worked pretty good i thought

I guess it really doesnt matter what you do when your offensive line cant block worth a $hit

Madden even made a comment about how well Willie gets out in the open running with a fullback in there with him. BRING BACK KREIDER!!!!

They 4 WR did look good! I don't understand why they didn't run it more.

They definitely should - Ben looks very comfortable running it. I thought we were going to see more of it given all of the pre-season talk, but it hasn't materialized.

What I don't understand is when we go 4-wide and then motion the far man back toward the line of scrimmage. At that point we're just bringing another defender into the box. At times it seems to me that the bunch formations make it more difficult for the o-line and Ben to see who is blitzing (so many defenders in the box).

Everyone I know was shocked at this approach. All week long the media was betting that pittsburg woud be the pitt of old, and jam it down their throats. Obviously we had a better plan.Except it didn't work. Cowher always lost, and the Steelers historically lose when we get away from what we do best. that's exactly what we did.I don't understand it. No balance, Use these running backs both of them.

Agreed! we did the same thing twise then tried to run right into it.The whole left side of the feild is loaded with defenders, and we run right into it.

I thought Arians and Roethlisberger were going to open up the playbook. I also thought Ben ahd the freedom to change at the line (ala Manning).

It seems to me like the offense is waiting to show what they've got for later in the season but they've got to change that mentality if it's the case. I really want to see what this offense can do with the 4-wides or with a 1-2 punch like Willie and Najeh.
