Lambert missing? - Page 2

Hey if he wants to earn a little money so what. The guy does not owe the team, his teammates, or the fans anything. Do any of you feel like you owe your current or former employers something ? If so you probably need to get of your a&& more and earn more of that check. With the ridculous money involved in what is the buisness we call the NFL I don't blame by-gone era players one bit for wanting to wet thier beak.

He was a training camp back in '05. I saw him there with Green. And I know Bradshaw skipped something because of money last year or the year before.

I just don't get the whole money thing. I'm not wired that way.

As a HUGE Jack Lambert fan I wanted to just throw in my two cents on this discussion.

Jack has always been a maverick. He comes across as very unorthodox in his mannerisms because he RARELY reacted int the usual way that people would think that he should.

Simply put..... If Jack woke up that morning made himself a cup of coffee, picked up the paper and saw that it was supposed to rain....He would be in character for him to put the paper down and say "F**k that".

im not upset so much at the fact of not showing up to receive the adoration of the fans and so on, but you would think he would enjoy getting together again with his old teammates that he spent so many great years with when it is so rare that they are all able to come together like that, as many of them have said

In Ed Bouchette's blog, he mentions that money may have been an issue with Jack not appearing. It's sad that it comes down to this. My first game I ever saw of the Steelers was Super Bowl X. Money should not have been an issue with Lambert - he owes the Rooneys and his former teammates the respect of showing up to celebrate the Steelers 75th Anniversary, years of glory which he shared with and contributed to while wearing the black and gold. I love Lambert, but if Bouchette is right, my respect level for Lambert has taken a little bit of a hit.

First I am biased here...I'm a HUGE Lambert fan. So with that, find it hard to believe that money was the issue. I still have yet to hear from a credible source that was the case. I've met Lambert many times...most recently as two weeks ago in Harrisburg. My wife and I made it to the mall late...his ending time of 3pm came and went. It was about 3:40. I see that the gate is closed. I'm wearing my Lambert throwback jersey as is my 3yr old son. Not only did Jack come back out to sign my jersey. He did so without acting like I was an intrusion. He added the FIVE inscriptions, which I may add he doesn't do, for free. He asked if we wanted my son's picture taken with him. Once again FREE. He didn't have to. He gets paid a flat fee. The only people that made money on that was the dealer. And if money was the issue...SO WHAT!! He played his ass of for this franchise...and was compensated for it. IMO he owes the Steelers nothing. Why aren't we talking about what the Steelers did or did not do for Mike Webster? He wasn't there....HIS CHOICE!!! I know Lambert does alot for charity, so let not act like he's some piece of shit for not showing up for yet another Steelers reunion-like event!

i have a lambert jersey i would like to get signed.. i have never paid for an autograph in person like that.. but the jersey is so nice and lambert was so special, that he may be the only exception.

I agree with all your points except for the Webster comment. It is well documented that the Rooney's and former players really tried to help Mike out.

I love your story about Jack. It's great to hear former players going beyond the norm to do something for fans of theirs.

His not appearing Monday night does not lessen my opinion of him at all. I'm just a fan that would have liked to have seen him with the other Steeler greats.

If I had to put my trust in either Bouchette or Lambert.....???? I will have to believe in Lamberts character.

Bouchette will never be to journalism what Lambert was to football.

I can't agree with this enough!!!!!! I don't think we'll see another Lambert in our lifetime.
