The #2 player in America picked Bama over Oklahoma, Florida, and FSU. That gives Alabama the top class in both Rivals and Scout heading into the afternoon stretch drive. The top offensive lineman in America (according to ESPN), Tyler Love, has signed with Alabama as well.

USC fell hard and fast from the "Rivals Top Class". Whew!!!! About time. Thank God. But I would like to see the Steeler's mimic what Pete Carroll did with his draft "class." SC is on pace for perhaps the best offensivive line in Trojan history. What is lost in USC's poor Rivals ranking is that you need two hands to count depth outside of the trenches. If someone is looking at the Rivals overall 'quality per player' rating SC is just a nose behind the leading Irish. God knows it's an Irish team with an obvious lack of _________________. 'Bama is alright. Saban is my problem. |

Rivals and Scout are just guessing like anyone else. As I pointed out in another thread, they had both James Lauranitis and Micheal Jenkins from OSU ranked as 2 star players. Both will be chosen in the top of the first rd in the '09 draft.

You're right about that. Osi Umenyiora was a 0-star player coming out of Auburn High School. Then when he was in college at Troy, he turned into a bigtime superstar and look at him now. However, this Julio Jones kid appears to be the real deal; very similar to a Randy Moss type of receiver, but potentially much stronger (and much more humble).

I'm not saying they are wrong about estimating top talent, more that they (and, really, who can?) can't find the hidden gems.
