Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis announced Tuesday, April 22, that LB David Pollack (neck) will retire. Pollack suffered a broken neck while making a tackle Sept. 17 of 2006. Lewis said Pollack told him that he was not comfortable with his neck medically despite being cleared to play

"The NFL provided Odell the opportunity to earn his way back onto our team, but we have not seen the right steps taken by him," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "With our offseason work in progress and new talent added at our linebacker position, we've determined it's best to keep moving in a direction that does not include Odell."

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Tuesday, Feb. 26, that the team re-signed DL Jonathan Fanene to a three-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. (Has a grand total of 12 tackles since drafted)

What an amazingly terrible draft. This perfectly reflects how bad the orginazation and team is

Amazing how fine of a line there is between potentially being one of the best Bengals drafts in history and one of the worst.

Obviously Pollack's situation was a freak accident, can't fault anyone there. Odell and Henry could have been great players, but they were both too stupid to realize their own potential. Of course the Bengals have to shoulder some blame as well for taking chances on both of them in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I'm glad the Bengals now are at least waiting until the 5th, 6th, 7th rounds before they start taking those types of gambles.

Adam Kieft had a lot of potential and a lot of size, but missed his entire rookie season due to injury and never really stayed healthy after that. Tab Perry is a similar story, except he actually produced for the Bengals, setting team records as a kick returner. However, he suffered a major hip injury and never completely recovered, not to mention he just tore his achilles after the Dolphins picked him up.

Eric Ghiaciuc and Jonathan Fanene are still with the team. Ghiaciuc is a starter, but this year will be his make-or-break season; he'll have to prove that he can hold up against the big nose tackles of the AFC North. Fanene might actually end up being the most productive player from that draft, ironically. He caught the injury bug early in his career, but he has a high motor, good physical skills, and can play both DT and DE. He'll be in the defensive line rotation for Cincy this year.

This draft is only a reflection of what has killed Cincy as a team over the past few years...injuries and bad character.

at the time it must have been a great draft for the bengals just as cantstop85 had pointed out...

looking at it now i've seen almost everyone (except for that OT) play a down against us and each did their part.

if they stayed healthy, and actually used their brains off the field it could've been some special draft...

That year was a wasted draft for them had some good players but most are gone now.
