Very sad news. I loved watching him cover this election on the Today show.

He was looking forward to this election so much! It was so sad and moving to see his colleagues get emotional on the air. I can't believe he's gone so suddenly either- I liked and respected him - and he was so well loved by those who knew him - just a regular guy from Buffalo. The tributes to him are sincere and heartfelt. I feel for his wife and son - how heartbreaking for them.

Russert was about the last of the straight reporting reporters. The news (no matter which channel or program) has become largely unwatchable, and pretty much has been since McNeil/Lehrer ended.

This is a sad day on several levels.
