MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Former West Virginia football coach Rich Rodriguez agreed to pay a $4 million buyout clause and settle a lawsuit that the university filed after he broke his contract in December.
The tentative agreement, which university attorney Tom Flaherty expects will be approved by the WVU Board of Governors later Wednesday, would end a case that had been set for trial this fall. It also may end a bitter public feud. "It's a case that should have settled a long time ago and could have settled a long time ago. It's in the best interest of everyone to resolve it," Flaherty said. A call to Ohio attorney Marv Robon, representing Rodriguez, was not immediately returned. Rodriguez quit the Mountaineers in December for the head coaching job at Michigan, only a year after extending his contract with WVU. He had argued that WVU broke the contract first by failing to honor certain promises - a charge WVU denied. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/8...ees-to-pay-$4M

I think WVU should have put this creep through the ringer and taken him to court. Then he'd really be screwed because he'd end up paying the buyout clause and WVU's legal fees.
I would love to see him try to argue in a court of law that WVU didn't live up to their end of the contract when it came to new training facilities when he only stuck around for one season of that contract. NFL teams can't even set up new facilities that quickly. I actually feel bad for TSUN (That School Up North). For as much as I hate them (O-H-I-O!), they don't deserve a scumbag like this as their head football coach.

They hired him for one reason: OSU can't stop teams that have a mobile QB. LSU was the only team in the last 5 years that beat the Buckeyes that DIDN'T have a mobile QB (and Flynn wasn't awful while that thug Perrilloux could definitely scamper). RR brings his spread option offense in and the Wolverine faithful figure he'll be a Tressel killer. It probably didn't hurt his cause that Appy State ran a Rich Rodriguez-type offense.
Only problem is, Tressel gets the rivalry. The second UM hired RR, Tress started spending an extra 15 hours a week looking at ways to defense the spread. My money's on Tressel. If Pitt could figure it out with talent only marginally better than a MAC school, I'm guessing OSU is going to be okay.

Also, RR doesnt have a QB who can run the offense. Florida had Tim Tebow. Illinois had Juice Williams. His big success at WVU came with Pat White running the offense. Right now, Dick Rod doesn't have a guy who's nearly as good as the aftormentioned quarterbacks. And about Pitt beating WVU, I am convinced that Dick Rod didn't want to win that game. He didn't want his team to play for a National Championship, because he was leaving. RR ran the same run play over and over with Slaton knowing it wouldn't work. Pat White was also out for most of that game. I don't know how much was Pitt rising to the occasion or how much was WVU's horrid play calling/missing Pat White.

I can't follow you there...way too Art Bell...No coach would work as hard as RR did to get to that position and purposefully blow it. Throw that theory out the window. If RR could win a NC, he'd sell his mom to do so.

Neither can the Wolverines. App State was one thing... but they were demolished by Dixon and the Ducks the next week.
