If Bruce Davis had to come in and play, do you think he could keep up with the defense? He's showing flashes, but I guess I'm wondering if he's athletically or mentally way behind, at least noticably.

Is Mendenhall still hesitating too much in the backfield? I remember him saying as soon as you saw a hole you had to punch through it, wondering if he's taken that to heart yet.

I'm trying to containg myself about Woodley. I wasn't expecting him to improve much over last year, because I thought he was pretty good last year. I thought he'd just polish it up a bit. But he looks like he's improved a lot. I've been wrong before. A few years ago I declared that losing Plax wasn't going to hurt too much because Ced Wilson looked so good in camp. Little did I know Ced would turn from Superman to Clark Kent as soon as the BD's were allowed to hit the receivers. But I don't think I'm mistaken like that this time. If' I was being perfectly honest, I would say that, as long as he stays in a Steeler uniform most of his career and avoids injury, Woodley will walk away from Pittsburgh with our all-time sack record, and maybe a couple of NFL sack titles.

Foote's still lining up with the first team, and Timmons still isn't playing the run well unless he's on a run blitz. He absorbs blocks when he's just reading and reacting. If he is moving down the line and get's chipped twice, he's already six yards down field because he gives up three yards each time a blocker hits him. If I was guessing, I'd say Farrior gives up a yard when he gets hit, Foote gives up two.

Don't get too giddy about Davis just yet, he's beating the third stringers, but he's not doing much against the first team guys.

I don't see Mendenhall hesitating, he reads his blocks well. But then, I didn't see the goal line situations where you don't really have time to read blocks you just kida plunge, so he may well be hesitating in that situation.

I always thought Woodley was Shawn Merriman LA (less attitude) but not as quick. Strong, powerful, athletic, experienced and a natural leader. Gonna be great!!
