Tomlin's Take: Press conference
By The Tribune-Review Wednesday, October 29, 2008 Quotes from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin's Tuesday press conference Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on... A report that the NFL Players' Association took issue with the Steelers deactivating Santonio Holmes last week after the wide receiver got charged his marijuana possession. "I'm not concerned about their view about whether we chose to (de)activate him. We've got 53 men on the team. We choose to activate 45 for a particular game. That's what we chose to do and we move forward." The need to minimize distractions "Distractions come with being a good team. We don't run away from it. We hope we've got some distractions. We hope we've got some interest in what's going on here. Our ability to deal with it will ultimately determine our level of success. We don't shy away from that." Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell "I was on the Senior Bowl staff that coached him coming out (of college). He was a very mature young man in terms of how he handled himself at that time. He's the son of a coach, so he keeps football in a good perspective. He's getting better with experience. He's making great decisions. He's moving the offense and his team is winning." First-year Redskins coach Jim Zorn following a legend just as Tomlin did last year. "My hat's off to him. This coaching thing is a fraternity. I'm one of the ones who likes to root for people unless I'm playing them. He's doing well. They appear to be very focused. They're 6-2 at the turn. For them, it's a pretty good position to be in and one that we hope to be in after this weekend." http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_595707.html |
