noted tackling is better or maybe the hang time is better or berger does not out kick the coverage

its not that i do not like daniel but when we can pick a guy up off of the street and get the same numbers, why not draft a real football player
I believe it's the tackling/coverage which has improved. That based on the personel we have this year. They seem to be taking some better angles and getting off blocks a lot better this year.
Also, I think the numbers would be improved even more if Sep was playing. While you may not agree with the positioning of the pick, I hardly think he can be compared to "a guy off the street". If he was on the street, someone would have picked him up pretty quickly.

HTG, are you keeping him in you basement? "It puts the lotion in the basket."

Berger is not a good punter, and I don't believe for a second that our numbers wouldn't be quite a bit better with Sepulveda, again, due to the vastly improved coverage.
hey berger was a probowler only a decade ago, hehe

so he is not a total bum. the stats speak for themselves, unless you have a top 5 punter, they are all about the same statiscally. so why waste a good pick on a punter. save those for players like reid.

As long as Holmes/Moore/whoever doesn't fumble the ball, I'm happy.

Coverage has been great and I hope it continues.

I have been quite pleased with the performance of the special teams. I think Tomlin made a special effort to address this area and it shows. Last year I think bad special teams play cost us at least 3 games that we could have won.

i think dan is a very good punter.. and he prob would of been better this yr as it was his 2nd... and at least we knew that dan would make a tackle if need be instead of those sliding tackles that punters or kickers do

I agree! The coverage has been phenomenal lately. The returns haven't been great, but I don't shudder every time the ST has to come onto the field.

If we had an electric return man, I really think we could have one of the better ST's in the league.

Retroskfy has been pretty solid so far.

The special teams have been a HUGE improvement. A nice change from last year when I spent every kickoff and punt with my heart in my throat waiting to watch them give up another big return. The big disappointment is our punting. Anytime we get into a defensive struggle we struggle on the field position battle with MItch Berger. I can't believe there isn't anybody stronger available because right now he is really a handicap. We are 2nd to last in the league in average punt distance. There have just been too many times this season when the offense has gotten pinned deep and then we can't even get a punt past midfield. It's amazing how few points we've given up considering how many times opponents are being handed a short field.
