Thought about that myself, but seattle has mojo too.

The Steelers........

1) For Cowher.

2) For the greatest fans in the league.

3) For the Bus.

4) For the all vets on this team that have been through thick and thin.

5) For getting close many times but coming up just short.

6) For living up to the standards of Mean Joe, Franco...oh hell, I can go on and on with this one.

That is my biggest concern as well.

I posted a thread on the issue but it didn't get much play..........I guess it was too soon after the win on Sunday to start thinking about that.

The Steelers had been getting better every week in the playoffs and were building up a big head of steam and I would have liked it if the Superbowl was next Sunday.

I chose equal motivation because for all that Pittsburgh wants to accomplish -- one for the thumb; getting Cowher his first SB title and slaying the "can't win the big one" dragon; rewarding loyal Steelers fans; and sending out the Bus on a championship note -- Seattle has the "lack of respect" motivator.

Think about it. The Seahawks have the best record in the NFL and they almost ran the table during the regular season and yet they're still four-point 'dogs, according to Vegas. They're probably thinking that the only way they'll ever get the respect they feel they deserve is by hammering the Steelers.

Outside of the Pacific Northwest, who the heck has been jocking the 'Hawks? Even now, with Pittsburgh coming in to the game as a sixth-seed, the 'Hawks still aren't the media favorite for this game. Talking heads were looking for reasons as to why the banged-up Panthers were going to end Seattle's run -- heck, some even picked against the 'Hawks -- so what did Seattle do? They came out and absolutely killed Carolina.

I think that if you look at all those factors for both teams, the motivation seems like it has to be equal. Plus, if a team can't get motivated for the Super Bowl, chances are they never would have made it to the game.

Motivation is equal for both teams, albiet for similiar and dissimiliar reasons. This should be an awesome game!

They "weathered" the meaningless regular season game and the 2 week layoff, though...we've been in do or die, desperation mode for almost 2 months, and now we find ourselves with a couple weeks to stop and think about it.

I agree. These two weeks wil benefit the Steelers more than the Seahawks. It'll give you guys more time to plan the scheme and catch your breath. However, Holmgren has been here 4X and knows how to manage the distractions. He plans to have the club prepare and do most of their work as if they have a game this week. They'll fly to Detroit this weekend with curfew every night. Earlier each night as we get closer to game day.

I think it's a DISadvantage for the Steelers. They don't need rest, they need to keep this peak going...

The Steelers perform better when they have been playing with a hot hand.
The have also been known to come out and not play well at times after having some time off.
I'm sure the motivation will be there but it's the execution of plays is what concerns me.
