Want to see the new Cowboys Stadium? It'll cost you
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Fans concerned about affording to see a game or a show at the new $1.15 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington can still check out the place. For a fee.

Tours began Friday at the retractable-roof venue of the Dallas Cowboys, the same day as thousands of hopefuls for the Fox TV show "American Idol" showed up for auditions.

Stadium tours, at $15 for adults and $12 for children, will be conducted every half-hour and last up to 75 minutes.

The tour includes the high-tech scoreboard control room, the press box, the Cowboys locker room and limited field access.

Jerry Jones looks like an outcast from The Shire in "The Lord of the Rings." he's a total a-hole and a greedy, media hungry, s.o.b. i'm tired of his face and the gully on this old fart for charging to take a tour of a giant toilet bowl...that's a great move Jerry! why not just wipe your ass with the money they give you!?

Heinz Field tours aren't free....

Quote:
Pricing:

* Children/Students (ages 18 and under) - $4.00 per person
* Adults - $6.50 per person
* Senior Citizens (ages 55 and older) - $4.00 per person
Why are we knocking them for making a buck? Capitalism rules.

So is Mike Brown going to demand that this be included in revenue sharing among all owners?

I got to see "Reliant Stadium" for free when I was down in Houston.

That place is pretty amazing and among the best in the NFL.

Don't see a reason to charge for a tour or to see a team's TC. Two things I think the NFL should leave alone.

thats not an NFL call to make.thats an owners call. the redskins used to have thier TC up here in western MD at frostburg state U. the year snyder bought the team, his first order of business was to buy out the contract with fsu and move the training camp to virginia. and immediatley started charging ,not only to attend, but for parking as well...his excuse was that the climate was to different than what the players will be playing in...

Yeah, the NFL slapped Danny Snyder's wrist and told him charging to attend TC was a no-no. The way they shaped the rule was that if you charged attendance, then that meant other teams were allowed to send a scout to buy a ticket and watch. But if it was free, then other team's scout were not allowed to be in attendance at TC.

I never really fully understood that rule. I mean, how is it enforced? Do they ask people as they enter "are you a scout for another team?" Does security come over and escort people out who take too many pictures? You're telling me that another team's scout couldn't get in and watch and not be noticed?

On the other hand having attended many training camps, I don't see what other teams would gain by watching the public practices. This seems like one of those rules that has not kept pace with current technology. I could get away with videotaping the whole thing but I doubt I would find a buyer for the tape. There might have been something to be gained by a coach watching another team's training camp back in the 60's, but not now.

Quote:
NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue yesterday defended the Washington Redskins' decision to charge admission to training camp.

"[The question of fairness] is up to the fans," Tagliabue said at the owners' meeting in Baltimore. "If they think it's unfair, they won't come."

The Redskins announced Tuesday that they will charge $10 per person ages 13 and up, as well as $10 per car, at their new camp site at Redskin Park in Ashburn, Va. The Redskins are the only team in the NFL to require fans to pay to watch practice, which was reported yesterday in The Washington Times after a team-by-team survey of the league's 30 other franchises.

Tagliabue, in response to questions about the Redskins' decision, pointed to the more common practices of charging for parking at camp and for admission to scrimmages between teams.

Quote:
Here is an example of Snyder’s marketing techniques; according to the Redskin’s website, to get into training camp you had to print out a ticket (which would admit two). In order to print out a ticket you had to register to give over all kinds of information — name, address, email, age, etc. Moreover, the boxes to receive promotional emails from the Skins and partners were pre-checked and well away from the submit but. (Personally, I have always found this contrary to internet ‘ethics’/mores). We printed out tickets and even fell for the checked boxes. (We’ll see how much spam we get). When we got to camp, no one asked us for our tickets. So Snyder and the Skins got all our info and their sponsors (REMAX) got their image on all those printouts!

I haven't been inside myself, but a friend told me it looks more like a 5* hotel than a stadium. I'm sure it's gorgeous, Jones know how to build a stadium better than he knows how to build a team

I still think, from the outside it looks like a giant Tupperware bowl.
