I won't label jeremiah wright a terrorist. Radical, yes. But his words are anything but supportive of this country. His sect is radical. The thinking and proponents behind black liberation "theory" are marxist. I condone neither, but ask the question in objectivity. What is the difference between damning America because "her sins have come home to roost", and proclaiming that America's recession (and by extension, her ills) are the result of gays?

By all accounts, Stanley Ann Dunham was a radical. As for the Birthers, its a conspiracy being fed by B.O. himself. All he'd have to do is allow the release of his long form Birth Certificate from the State of Hawaii. Maybe also show the passport he used to go to Pakistan when he was in college. That's it.

Instead he has spent $1.3 Million to fight those two things from happening.

He's causing the Birthers to stick around instead of just burying the issue once and for all. Maybe is part of the play to label all people who question him or his decisions as "crazy birthers." but it would be very simple for the Birthers to be put to rest. We are a Nation of Proof and seeing Things for ourselves. Heck Congress actually investigated John McCain's birth records and established that he was eligible to serve. But never did with B.O. that is something the Birthers question as well.

Dino, you make a good point again. If he's feeding into it, it's working...the right wingers who are screaming and clamoring that he's not a citizen really DO look like kooks, and it works towards discrediting all conservatives and moderates...

The nazis were leftists - the "national socialist workers party". Uncle Joe, noting the socialist landscape in Europe, and seeking to differentiate his regime from the "others", decreed that all socialist regimes other that the soviets were "fascists". So, ignoring that the regimes of franco, mussilini, hitler, and others were died in the wool socialist, Uncle Joe's stooges in American academia ran with the "fascist" moniker. Yes they are. That is the point of the thread. The words have meaning. They become embedded in belief systems. If you interview a thousand people on the street and ask them what the nazis were, you'd get unanimous "they're fascist" because that's what they were taught in "school".

"Birthers" are "bad people". "Socialist" = the "N word". People that don't like socialism are racist.

You are so right. Why is the money and political capital being spent on this ridiculous matter, if it is indeed a ridiculous matter. Unfortunately, a group of people are being labeled "birthers" and being marginalized because they dare to ask the constitutionally important question - "is he a citizen?". Standard socialist operating procedure - never answer a question. Destroy the questioner.

Yep. Complete double standard. Anyone hear about the guy in North Carolina that was selling Anti-Obama stuff at the mall? He was told political satire was to be left out of the mall. +1000000000000. The state of Hawaii says he was born in Honolulu. Legally that means he was, end of story. He has produced a birth certificate. It's basically the same one any of us would get from the state where we were born. It's good enough for the DMV, the IRS, the State Department, Little League and school enrollment when we were kids, etc. The birfers wouldn't accept any amount of proof. Not even a videotape of the birth, with Obama's mom holding up a newspaper, a TV in the background showing a Honolulu station, a window behind the bed with a palm tree and volcano visible, and R. Kelly peeing on a 15 year old girl holding her drivers' license to prove she's underage.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the birfers are really Obama supporters because as you said, it creates a convenient strawman and allows the Kool-Aid drinkers to caricature anyone who disagrees with them.

As far as another popular birfer talking point goes, there was no Pakistan travel ban in 1981--if you check the NYT archives there's even an article in the Travel section about Lahore.
