Looking ahead.. Defense could change with FA

Chris Hope, Deshea Townsend, Kimo, and of course El.. all are key FA's or Players that my not return.

We've got alot of work to do this offseason. Offense we should return pretty much intact w/ the exception of maybe El..but I hope he returns.

Defense in the secondary could look vastly different depending on what happens.

True but we have the same problem with Alexander and Jurevicious et al....

I think Chris Hope is the most likely to leave. I think El signed his check with the performance in the Superbowl, and Deshea and Kimo are too old to go anywhere else for a big contract. I think they'll wanna stay here. Chris'll get a big head and look for big money because he's still young, and some team will hire him. I think he seems better just because of our defense overall.

Back in the summer, it was reported that preliminary talks had started with some of the FAs and that Chris Hope (or his agent) had asked for some big money. I don't know how much that equates to but if that is the case then he will be gone in the offseason. I think he looks better than he really is due to the scheme. He likes to make big hits but he doesn't wrap up and gets trucked when going high on RBs like Kevin Jones and Rudi Johnson.

One guy that may not be back or will definitely be restructured is Jeff Hartings. He counts $8M against the cap and that is WAY too much for a center. He may retire now that he has a ring, in which case we would need a center in FA or through the draft. That is a big position on this team.

Yeah the Steelers offered Hope money but they wanted to see him play this year before they broke the bank for him.

We have good depth at CB although I do want Deshea to stick around... we are thin at safety so I think Hope is a big key to keep around.

Joe Jerevicious is the best High School player I`ve ever watched live. And there have been alot of NFL players from this area, Robert Smith, Pepe Pearson, Desmond Howard, Elvis Grbac, just to name a few. I would love for the Steelers to pick up this guy! He would be a perfect fit!

jurevicious is a great guy and a penn stater which is sweet and all......but we definitely do not need him......ward is obviously one of the best......we really need to resign el.........wilson proved he is legit in the playoffs..........and hopefully we can get morgan back too.......i see no need to go get joe
