Madden himself commented that he did not see that as a holding penalty!
the person commenting on that article (the "unbiased" one) acts like if Madden says something, then that is final. even if he hadn't stated he wasn't a regular football watcher, that comment would make it obvious

I can safely say full time refs are not the way forward. I'm a big fan of Premiership football where refs have recently been made full time professionals. Now they seem to be competing with the players for star status giving ridiculous calls just because they know it will get them on the back page of the newspapers.

That wasn't given as a goal last season (also cost my team a place in European cup football) and the linesman & ref got a huge amount of publicity for it. If they had video replays involved then it would have been given and Spurs would have beaten Man Utd.

The NFL can't learn or improve anything following the Premiership format, it should be the other way round.

You do have to admit something needs to change though because this isn't an isolated event. This happened with too much frequency throughout all the playoffs if not the regular season to every team in both to be totally ignored. Little wonder people are questioning the intregrity of the league which only takes away from the Steelers win even when they won fair and square.

True. What people need to realize is that it just wasnt the superbowl that had bad officiating. It almost seemed like every playoff game was bad. The only game with good officiating i thought was when we played Denver. Everything seemed pretty fair. I didnt pay a hole lot of attention to the NFC, but i hear it was just as bad there....either way we won, if seattle made a few plays they could have won. it wasnt bc of officiating

They had their mistakes in the NFC also but not quite at the level of the AFC in my opinion, especially the Indianapolis game. I do agree our loss was not due to bad officiating directly but it did alter the game at critical moments. Combine this with our mistakes it just guaranteed a loss of our own making.
