9-7 playoff berth is possible

I know we hardly look like we can run the table, but winning 4 in a row is possible. Winning 3 of 4 is even probable and if we win the right games could get us in at 9-7.

The Steelers need to win 3 of 4 with the only loss being to GB. That means we need to beat Cleveland, Baltimore at home, then Miami the last game for the playoff berth.

There are 2 wildcards available and here are the teams we are competing with to get 1 of them. One of these teams can finish ahead of us, so not every scenario needs to happen.

Denver- Must lose 3 games between KC, Indy, Philly, Oak.
Jax- Must lose 3 games between Mia, Indy, NE, Cle.
Balt- Must lose to us + 1 other game to GB, Det, Chic, Oak. If it's Oak., we win tiebreaker, if it's an NFC team this would cause a complicated tiebreaker, strength of victory, which is too early to decide. Losing an addtional game would obviously work for us also.
NYJ- Must lose 1 game between TB, ATL, Indy, Cincy. If loss is to AFC team we win tiebreaker. If loss is to NFC team, see above complicated scenario with Strength of victory being a factor. Let's hope the Colts and Cincy are still playing for seedings the last 2 weeks. I think Cincy will be.

All other teams do not matter as at 9-7 we will own tiebreakers against all of the other teams provided we beat the Dolphins head to head the last game.

So us going 9-7 and getting 3 of the 4 above scenarios to play out gets us a playoff berth. Not impossible. The toughest part as always will be for us to hold up our end of the bargain and get to at least 9 wins.

I could give a shit about 1 win. The goal every year should be to qualify for the playoffs. Until acheived, keep trying to win enough games to qualify. Once acheived, jockey for seeding. If eliminated from playoffs, who gives a shit. Lose them all, play some rookies, see who will be on the team for next year, get a higher draft choice. None of it matters at that point.

But right now, it's not over. This team still has meaningful football to be played. Until they lose their 8th game I will be there believing we can get in.

Agreed, the team needs to worry about Thursday night.

Us fans can think about whatever the hell we want because it just doesn't matter. Me and you not focusing fully on the Browns game amounts to nothing. Won't matter one bit on the outcome of Thursday's game. So yes, I hope the team stays focused. I prefer to look ahead at some playoff possiblities so I can maybe make some travel plans or spend the money I was going to spend on going to a playoff game on Christmas instead.

Forget the playoffs. Move on. It ain't happneing this season. And I am now ok with it.
Will get the Steelers a good draft pick that will help the team in the long run.
Can not keep picking from the bottom year in, year out and still expect to put a good
product on the field every season.
