Good start for the Team USA. I know a medal is a long shot, but beating the teams we are supposed is step ahead of the last few Olympic performances.

It was much easier to find when it was all one country (Czechoslovakia)

Anyway, Sid looked real good with Nash and Iggy tonight - that passing play on Canada's 5th goal was just sick. Ah, if only Sid had an Iggy or a Nash playing on his line here in the Burgh...

Russia's up 2-0 and no points yet from Geno, Gonch or Capt. Ug.

Russia wins 8-2 - Geno gets a goal and assist, no points for Gonch. Interestingly, Malkin is playing with Afinogenov and Kovalchuk, and Captain Ug is playing with Fedorov and Semin. I thought for sure they'd put Malkin, Kovalchuk and Ug on the same line. Then again, both Ug and Kovalchuk are LW, so it makes sense to split them up.

So today's stat lines for the Pens: Sid 3 A, Geno 1+1, Gonch and Brooks no points, and Fleury DNP (and probably won't see any action at all with Luongo and Brodeur on the team).

Today, the hated Jaromir Jagr and the Czech Republic will take on the equally hated Marian Hossa and Slovakia. Here's hoping they both break a leg. HTG will get to see her favorite player Zdeno Chara in action, too, for the Slovakian team

Russia pounded Latvia 8-2 and Canada shutout Norway 8-0.

The US of A squeaked by the Swiss - 3-1.

Great start so far. Of course Im rooting for USA first even though their chances are not that good they will medal, but a win is a win.
Second I'm rooting for is Poland, which is where my family is all from, but of course I won't even hear about them so third of course Canada with Sid there and It would be hard to want Russia to win because I don't want Caveman winning the gold over Sid.

But hey im not complaining Sid has a cup!
