Caputi is scheduled to join the Leafs in Boston. So much for "taking many more seasons until he was a starter." The only reason the kid wasn't playing was because they insisted on putting Fedotenko out there every night even though he's struggled mightily this season. You're telling me they couldn't have gotten more than 9 goals out of Caputi this season playing with Malkin?

Exactly, if they get enough viewership on that show....the morons at FSN would have to be bigger morons to not even consider the idea.

The point isn't that he is going to start for another team it's that he was not starting for the Pens. Sure he would have, but was he playing? No and I couldn't have saw him for a few seasons and Shero wants to win now and so does the team. If you have an elite team who has a great chance to win the cup, I say win it all now make deals later.

That's life in the NHL. You have to keep moving forward.

You can't hoard picks and prospects while giving up established players in trades to fix holes on your team when you are nailed to the cap ceiling and your team is a player or two away of a winning Cup run.

Guys like Caputi exist to be traded for players that give you immediate results. This is how you keep a contender full of superstars going year to year. There will always be casualties to the cap.

Leopold and Poni are fresh faces that give the team a different look heading into the playoffs. Plus we are back to having 7 solid NHL defensemen, a necessity these days.

Yupp and that has been Shero's output every season. We need to win now and bring in the guns who know the game, and can score goals and win you a championship, and at this time Caputi is not the answer. Poni can score and seeing him play along side Malkin makes me shiver knowing he can bring some good scoring.

I am sure Burke was happy to get the draft pick instead of being stuck with another stiff. However, Burke has a few more stiffs to get rid, namely Lee Stempniak and Garnet Exelby in the next few hours for picks. Tomas Kaberle isn't going any where.

Caputi and 5th round pick for Poni sounds like a win for the Maple Leafs, considering Burke wasn't going to sign Poni anyways. Poni is not a Burke type player.

Arrival delayed for Penguins' new winger

Wednesday, March 03, 2010
By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Winger Alexi Ponikarovsky, obtained by the Penguins late Tuesday night in a trade with Toronto, will not be able to join his new team until at least Friday because of an immigration holdup.

That means Ponikarovsky will miss Thursday's road game against the New York Rangers. His first possible game with the Penguins will be Saturday afternoon at home against Dallas.

Ponikarovsky -- who was dealt for prospect Luca Caputi and defenseman Martin Skoula -- does not have the proper work visa to be based in the United States. While with Toronto, he was able to play games in the United States as a visiting team member. He is Ukrainian.

Meanwhile, center Sidney Crosby is not practicing with the club. He is being given a rest after a long run in the Olympics followed by playing Tuesday night in a 3-2 home win over Buffalo.
