Default Physician pleads guilty

The Associated Press reports James Shortt pleaded guilty in federal court Monday, March 6, to one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids and human growth hormone as part of a plea agreement. Shortt was accused of writing illegal steroid prescriptions to Carolina Panthers. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The CBS news program "60 Minutes Wednesday" reported March 30 that punter Todd Sauerbrun, center Jeff Mitchell and the former Carolina offensive lineman Todd Steussie had filled prescriptions for testosterone cream written by Shortt during the 2003 season.

You hate to hear this, but it's such a temptation you can't really be surprised. For example, the recovery time from certain types of injuries is so much faster if you're on steroids.

saurbrun has always been a pretty tough and atheletic punter back to his days as a bear but it looks like he has been pushing 230 here recently. i think that muscle all turns to fat after you get off the juice (barry bonds?) and looking at todd last year that would definitely seem to be the case.

I agree. If you are a 3rd string LB making $250k/yr, but you think that if you take the roids and you can become a starter in a couple of years and make say 2 or 3 million/yr. Yea, I would really think about taking them. It would be very hard to pass up. Just think you could take care of your family for the rest of your life if you could just start for 5 or 6 years.

If someone came to me today and said take this and in less than 10 years you could set your family up for life........Hell, I don't know if I could say no!

True True as long as whoever makes that choice knows the possible consequences.....
