The Eagles agreed to terms with free-agent QB Jeff Garcia, who will be on his fourth team in four seasons. Though Garcia struggled last season, he's considered an upgrade over Mike McMahon and Koy Detmer, who struggled to replace Donovan McNabb last season following hernia surgery. Garcia fits the mold of a West Coast quarterback who can start in a pinch, and he has worked with Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg before, when the two were with the 49ers.

The Eagles offense without McNabb is in just as much of a shambles as the Lions offense. Garcia replaced McMahon on the Lions and did worse than McMahon did. Garcia won't do any better than McMahon. McMahon and Garcia are the same type of QB, the west coast kind, except McMahon has the fresher legs and arm. And McMahon started for Mornhinweg on the Lions. It's no upgrade.

I think Garcia is a very decent back up for McNabb - he has a ton of experience of playing on struggling teams and his career stats aren't too bad.
Seen a few games of McMahon last year - he looked like he had decent arm strength but made alot of bad decisions - and all these mistakes were componded because the Eagles are determined to exsit without any sort of running game to take the pressure off the QB. NM

Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless. The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed. |

I live in MI, it seems like Garcia had an injury and did not play for quite awhile. He certainly was not the answer when he did play.

McMahon is capable of making great plays with his arm and feet and is a great athlete. But you are correct about the bad decisions, especially when his choices aren't good to begin with.
Garcia had a leg injury last year and came in and played only marginally better than Joey when he was benched. |
