As of right now, the Dems are leading in the Senate (43-30 with 51 needed for majority) and Governor (8-6 with 26 needed for majority) races. The Republicans are leading in the House (40-9 with 218 needed for majority) races.

I'm watching it, seems republicans will win the House, still very close but democrats will probably have the senate by 2 or 3. I think they all suck, when voting its like choosing the lesser of 2 evils. I just hope they bring taxes down a bit...

I haven't checked everyone who won and lost, but the Dems have taken the Senate and the Republicans have taken the House. This is good that there is balance, but I fear they will do nothing but sit back and cancel each other out now. It'll probably just take even longer to get anything accomplished. Yay.

Tom Corbett (R) is PA's new Governor. I know there are obviously some who are happy about this...I am not one of them. Expect taxes to just keep going higher (though I'm not convinced Onorato would have lowered them any). Same shit different year pretty much.

GOP seizes control of key state legislatures

WASHINGTON – Republicans seized control of about a dozen state legislative chambers Tuesday night, delivering a major blow to Democrats and picking up key redistricting powers along the way.

The GOP scored decisive wins in Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. In all three states, they knocked Democrats from the majority in the state House chambers — putting the split legislative bodies into full Republican control.

In Ohio, former Rep. John Kasich also ousted Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland, and Pennsylvania's governorship went to Republican Tom Corbett over Democrat Dan Onorato — putting the GOP in the driver's seat for the upcoming redistricting. Ohio could lose two congressional seats and Pennsylvania may lose one.

Adding to their wins, Republicans pulled off double upsets in four states by wresting the state Senate and House chambers from Democrats in Alabama, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

The GOP also took the Iowa House and Minnesota Senate from Democratic control.
In New York, Republicans were seeking to take back the state Senate, but it was still too close to call.

More chambers were expected to fall from the Democrats, as voters registered their disenchantment with an anemic economy, high unemployment and an overall gloomy national mood leading up to the midterm elections.

Several states, including Montana, had races that had yet to be called.
Still, Republicans put their total take of chamber flips from Democrats at 19 early Wednesday.

WASHINGTON – Republicans captured Democratic governorships in at least 10 states on Tuesday, including some prime presidential battlegrounds, and hoped for even more statehouse gains.

The same tide sweeping Republicans into office in Congress was leaving its mark on governors' mansions as well, especially in the nation's industrial heartland.

Changing hands in the GOP onslaught: governorships now held by Democrats in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Wyoming.

In Ohio, a state viewed by both parties as crucial to the 2012 presidential election, former Rep. John Kasich defeated Gov. Ted Strickland. Republican Susana Martinez won the New Mexico governorship — she is the first Latina chief executive of a state — and will succeed Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson.

But there were a few bright spots for Democrats. In California, Democrat Jerry Brown coasted past former eBay CEO Meg Whitman to reclaim the post he held three decades ago. He will replace moderate Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Democrats picked up another GOP seat in Hawaii as former U.S. Rep Neil Abercrombie defeated Republican Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona to succeed Republican Gov. Linda Lingle in the state where President Barack Obama was born. Lingle was term-limited.

Democrats also held onto governorships in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, Arkansas and Colorado.
