Sudden-death overtime victories in the NFL have been around since 1974 when the league implemented new rules for regular season games. This meant fewer ties amongst teams and an easier time determining who goes to the playoffs. There haven't been many ties since 1974. Out of the thousands of games played there have been only 17 occurrences where teams ended up not scoring in the overtime period. The following is a list of five of the most significant tie games in NFL history since the new rule change.
