Default Steel Curtain was the 70's

It was one of the greatest nicknames of all-time. My question: Should the Dick LeBeau defenses over the past decade be called the "Renegade Defense". Makes sense, doesn't it?

No it shouldn't have one. Cause the 70's term was mostly cause back then a particular group could stay together for many many seasons. But, as great as our defense has been the past 7-10 years, it was never based on any set core of players. More due to a system of defense. I mean you could attach a name like...
" The Black & Blue wrecking Crew " if you wanted. But I don't know if that is catchy enough

Casey Hampton James Farrior Troy Polumalu Ike Taylor Aaron Smith have been there the whole time. Then Joey Porter Clark Haggans Lammar Woodley James Harrison Timmons Kiesel and recently Hood. I don't understand what you mean there wasn't a core group of players.

When Renegade goes on the scoreboard, the players love it. I thought that was a good tie-in.
