ROUND 1
TRADE out of the First Round for an Additional early 3rd round pick. 2a) Ras I Dowling CB Virginia (young and will be healthy again) 2b) Marcus Gilbert OT Florida (good school, size, former teamate of Pouncey) 3a) Marcus Gilchrist CB/FS Clemson (good speed, could be starter at safety) 3b) Sione Fua, NT, Stanford (could also get NTs Jerrell Powe, or Ian Williams) 4) Rashad Carmichael, CB, Virginia Tech (good speed, size, explosive) 5) Mario Harvey, ILB, Marshall 6-0 257 4.43 40 time. (that size and speed wow) 6) Alex Henerey K (get him before someone else does) 7) Weslye Saunders TE South Carolina (problems but hey he's a 7th rounder) This draft would be based on the Steelers belief that these guys would stay healthy and be able to be coached to become better then they are now. Speculative but with an incredible high upside on all of them. The only ALT to this would be the Steelers trading up to get a Franchise Offensive Tackle if they believe there is one. (Nate Solder? Derreck Sherrod? Gabe Carimi?) Would probably cost us at the very least our 3rd rounder. 1) Franchise Offensive Tackle (Greatest upside Nate Solder) 2) Best CB available (Curtis Brown, or Davan House, Dowling would be a dream) 3) No Pick traded to move up in round 1 4) Best FS 5) Best NT 6-7 same as above picks. No DEs but Keisel can at least play 2 more years and Ziggy is there now. Wait till next year. |

I like this. Trading down for an extra early 3rd would be great. I would be happy with what you have, but I like Roy Helu in the 4th instead of Carmichael.
I'm also liking Davon House, but Gilchrist as a possible safety/nickel is good too. |

What did I tell you, Heyward in the 1st. Last year everyone was certain we were taking Kylo Wilson and this year everyone thought Williams but you guys don't seem to understand the Steelers will not reach.

Props for picking Heyward but...
I still had us taking Ras I Dowling in the 2nd though. Right where he will probably go and we would get the extra 3rd Round Pick. The OT I liked the most at 31, Derreck Sherrod was drafted one pick after the Steelers took Heyward so how much of a reach was that for the Packers who are known for very good talent evaluations. Aaron Williams who I did not have listed at all would have been a reach and did not even make the first round. So time will tell Cam Heyward vs. Derreck Sherrod, and what kind of corner will Dowling or Aaron Williams make? Let's check back in a few years... |
