Maybe making it through only 1 of the last 5 seasons without missing significant time is causing Troy to rethink his usual offseason workout approach
If Steelers safety Troy Polamalu doesn’t switch coasts in the coming weeks it won’t stem from a lack of lobbying on Ike Taylor’s behalf. The veteran cornerback has been trying to persuade Polamalu to join him and a handful of other Steelers at Tom Shaw Performance Camp in Orlando ... Efforts to reach Polamalu have been unsuccessful but Shaw said the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has told him that he plans to go to the Orlando area in the coming weeks. “Troy said, ‘I’ve been injured for the last three years. Ike, James, William Gay haven’t missed a play so I’ve got to find out what they’re doing,’ ” Shaw said. “I can guarantee that we’ll do things that will strengthen his weaknesses because we do a whole body training, we don’t just do one thing. We sprint, we run, we backpedal turn and run. We add resistance to it. Well pull that sled with your arms.” http://blog.triblive.com/view-from-t...ss+Box+Blog%29 If Troy needs further motivation he can read this diss from Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com - Prisco explains his ranking of Troy as #28 of the top 100 NFL Players as follows 28. Troy Polamalu, S, Pittsburgh Steelers: He is a tad overrated: and some will scoff that he's not in the top 10, but I think he is off some in coverage at times. He also played poorly in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/14966135 |

Manning always plays poorly in the playoffs, yet Prisco has a big boner for him.

Troy can literally account for EVERY member of that Steelers defense and bail them out of their mistakes time and time again. Not only does he make ground for their mistakes, but he makes their PLAY as well. The dude is a phenom. He was injured, and we got scorched. Plain and simple.

If you read Prisco regularly, you will notice he takes contrarian veiws just becasue. His ratioanle is usually flimsy because he doesn't always write based on fact, it's usually his opinion and that aint worth s@#t! Troy #28 and Pete Prisco knows what he is talking about! F him!

A lot of these so called sports "analysts and experts" are just like you and I presenting arguments. They have their own opinions but are able to follow the players and teams more closly becuase all of us are putting in our forty hours. Polamalu overrated. Funny.

A healthy TP is not overrated; he is amazing. But the player, as a whole, considering
how often he isn't healthy, may be overrated when you factor that into the big picture. And, the totality of the perceived total value of a player does need to factor in how often the player misses time - or play is effected negatively - by said player. Prisco didn't specify this is his overrated comment, but I am . If TP is hopping around on one leg, or not on the field at all, then placing him among the very best players in the NFL is probably not just. |

all talking heads out there. He has been right far more than the avg. sports media person. He called out the 2005 and 2008 Steelers as underrated teams that were good enough to make noise in the post season and he made those calls before the seasons even started. And he is _not_ a Steeler fan; as a matter of fact he doesn't like them, but does respect them. |
