Default A little weed costs us a Super Bowl

I still can't remove myself from the fact that if Holmes was
on the team and on the field that last drive in the SB, Pgh wins
the game. That last drive looked horrible, with the WRs not knowing
where they were supposed to be - very herky jerky. So Rooneys dump
Holmes for a warm six-pack over some weed. Mean while, they suck
down scotches but somehow puffing some weed is worse.

Yea, it's over. Time to move on, but it still burns me that Holmes was
sent packing over some weed. There hasn't been a single instance
where they proved weed was even bad for you, yet they have found
evidence that it can be beneficial. Not a single death has been
attributed to weed, yet how many ppl die from booze every single year
in accidents alone?

Yea, it's illegal. So is having oral sex in some states. Does that make
it right?

I am glad their paranoia and pointing the dirty end of the stick at
Holmes cost us a SB. Great.

Basing it on history. How many times did Holmes come up big
at the end of the biggest games?

We'll never know. Maybe we don't even get to that game with Holmes. Who knows. Maybe Wallace and or Sanders don't get a chance to show what they can do if Holmes stayed on the team. Holmes didn't exactly torch our "weak" secondary in the AFCC game.
I think there was more to it than just a 1 time weed offense. It's not the Steeler way to air our dirty laundry, so the whole truth may never be known. I think it may have had more to do with Holmes not being a "Steeler" type guy. He seemed like more of a me first guy. As happy as I was when he caught that TD to win the Super Bowl, I still cringe a little when I see him afterwards on the sidelines pounding his chest saying "that's how you be great".
His talent is unquestioned and from a personnel standpoint I would love him to still be on the team. We also let him go for a song, but I think the Steelers knew he was gone at the end of the year anyway.

All the WRs, except for ARE knew where they were supposed to be. On the one play, ARE lined up on the wrong side, which confused Wallace. Wallace threw his hands up in the air in confusion. But it was ARE who messed up ... he admitted it after the game.

We like to think that only rookies and inexperienced players mess up .. but veterans can mess up as well. Even if Holmes was still on the team, maybe he fumbles the ball and it's returned for a TD. Maybe we lose by 13 instead of 6. You can't play the game of what ifs.

Hell, maybe we would have won the game if Dan Kreider was still on the team. He could have picked up the block and Mendy wouldn't have fumbled. We can play this game all day long.

Not that often really...He had a game winner against the Bengals in 2006 and the Super Bowl in 2008. I know the WR didn't understand shit but that doesn't mean anything because we found ways to win with Antonio Brown (vs Ravens) and again to secure the win vs the Jets. Hines made some saving catches and so did Sanders.

To hell with Holmes, it just wasn't our year to win. The End. I know we all hated when people said the Seahawks should have beat us in 2005 so lets not do the same to the Pack. They won, get over it we will move on.

I know we missed the playoffs with Holmes in 2009. , I also know his 4 drop performance against the Bears cost us one game, and his misread on a hottroute cost us a decisive pick 6 in one Bengal game, and his drop of what should have been an easy touchdown pass right before the end of the half cost us the other Bengal game.

So I'm not sure if we even make it to the SB if old Stonio had hung around Thumper.

Or what would have happened if our defense could have stopped Rodgers on one of the three third and longs on their final drive to go up 27-21, or if we would have ran more in the early stages of the second half when Mendy was averaging 7 yards per carry. It sucks, but its nothing but what wouldas now.
