YEP, that would have made a huge difference. I don't know why they haven't booted him yet.

To hell with Holmes, it just wasn't our year to win. The End. I know we all hated when people said the Seahawks should have beat us in 2005 so lets not do the same to the Pack. They won, get over it we will move on.
Here comes that ugly straw man argument once again. When did I ever
say GB didn't deserve to win????????????????/

Holmes would still be an ex Steeler. It wasn't just his love of weed that sealed his fate.

Yep. There was a whole array of punishments the Rooney's could have brought down on Holmes instead of trading him off. Would have been his 2nd chance to make another spectacular SB comeback and another possible MVP.

I agree he'd still be an X-Steeler - NOW. But in the meantime, could have
added another ring. It's not like you can take the opportunities lightly.
We won one in the 1979 season.....and then waited 25 years before
our next one.

Holmes is not the kind of player that Pgh re-ups for the larger contracts;
I get that. He is aloof, kind of stupid. (Obviously, being that he had already
been busted for weed and he risked millions by keep toking. Why not
wait until retirement after making 10s of millions and THEN toke out?)

Hugely idiotic. Of course, having all those babies with all those different
mothers isn't all that bright either. It's called a "Jimmie" Holmes.

I still would have liked our chances on the last drive with SH on the field.
As if the Rooneys' past is so pure white. Gambling and mob action?

We simply don't KNOW, but he did have the knack of being a part
of game winning drives/score in big games. We had the ball with a
chance to make the go-head score. And it didn't happen. It's not like
we were not in position to take the lead with 2 minutes left, because
we were.

We can't say that not having Holmes lost us the Superbowl. I seem to remember the whole team playing pretty flat, and it would be hard to convince me that just adding one wr would have made a big difference.

With the attitude he had against the Steelers this past year, I'm glad they got rid of him anyway. I don't hold a grudge against him or anything, I just don't think that the Steelers need players who are such bad losers.
