Default Since "Silent Hill" Sucked so much ass...

I thought I'd give a review of a quality movie for balance.

"In Cold Blood" is almost 30 years old, but you'd never know it without a young John Forsythe and an even younger Robert Blake reminding you. The narrative is tight, the plot is excellent (reality is always stranger than fiction), and there's even a hint of some manipulation of timeline that later directors definitely cribbed from (Tarantino DEFINITELY saw this movie).

This movie was adapted from a book written by Truman Capote, and the motivation and methods used by Capote to cull information from Perry Smith (One of the real-life villains) was made into the 2005 film "Capote".

I digress.

The way I judge a good movie is how long it keeps me from looking at my watch or thinking "When will this movie ever end?". Most movies give themselves away as a movie at some point (That moment when your suspension of disbelief is broken), but I never experienced that moment during this flick.

It has a little violence and language, but not much by today's standards. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Not to totally get away from the topic, but I just watched Hostel, & was actually getting bored with it. With all of the sex & torture, there was no story, not really any true suspense. Glad I didn't buy it. It grossed me out, but didn't scare me at all. I walked away from it to start cleaning the house.
Movies now just aint what they used to be.
I have yet to see In Cold Blood as an adult-I vaguely remember seeing it as a kid. The movie about Capote was pretty interesting. Made me want to see the movie again, bit I haven't done it yet...

i'll have to check it out. as far as capote, i couldnt stand the character (great portrail of a characetr and movie), which shows why he deserved an oscar. from the dude who gave cinema the term "sharted" (about polly?) to his preformance in this movie, was really good acting. he didnt seem like he was acting at all.

I watched "Jacket" the other night on HBO On Demand. Not a bad movie. Strange movie, but kept my interest until the end.
