Thing is, is that we are still over the cap. How in God's green Earth would we make an offer? The Jets probably did no talking. "Here is the signing paper. 1 year, 3 million guaranteed. I think it's just taking care of ourselves and giving OUR players, the ones we drafted, PITTSBURGH STEELERS, the rights they deserved. Guys like Polamalu, Woodley and Ben just NEED to be retained at a high price so it starts there and makes it way down. Guys like Plax would of been a nice accolade to make a run at another Super Bowl.

Why should we. We don't need Plaxico. Look at our track record and tell me we need to hunt down high (or even medium dollar) FA's.
Last year I thought our o-line woes were huge and we would have to do something. We did. We drafted a pro bowl center and made it to the big game. even then we used a backup center when Maurkice went down.
I've come to trust the FO when they yawn at all these free agents and then bring in someone like Flozell to get us to the big dance on the cheap.

Great post. +1. Truer words haven't been spoken. I think, for the fanbase, it's exciting to see us do something. After it's all said and done, we as a fanbase move on and go back to the same mentality reality. Our men are built from the draft.

Just like you said about the Hotel signing last season to put us over the hump, I'd atleast love a 3rd down back for Ben.

Three Super Bowl and four AFC championship appearances in the last 7 years - too bad the front office has nothing to show for how it has been spending its $$$.

It takes talent to achieve those results and talent gets paid or walks - Steelers are a veteran team that has lost only one FA in the last 7 years (Burress) who was in his prime when he left - that is why they are capped out
