Every year we go through free agency and make minimal deals. Small additions where a few million is shelled out, but not much more. I'm not saying I'm against this, as we have had plenty of success with this formula. I am just baffled at how we have cap issues when there are teams like the Jets who over the last 3 years have signed tons of high-price free agents with no cap issue resulting. How can the jets sign holmes, cromartie, edwards, tomlinson, bart scott, revis, etc and still have more room than we did for Plax. I can guarantee you that if we had offered similar money, he would be at Latrobe right now. We just couldn't offer the money. So my main question after this entire digression is, can someone explain how we are in such cap hell?

Who cares about Plex? We don't need another WR, I keep hearing people getting in an uproar over him but remember he wanted to leave us so stay out. Ward, Wallace, Sanders and Brown are good targets and we don't need another WR.
We are over cap because we had a bunch of players at the end of their deals so their money value was higher. Flozell was 5M against the cap, Starks was 7M against the cap, Troy was 11 against the cap and then there was Ike, Sepulveda, Foote (3M), El (2M) and those keep adding up. They should be under the cap right now with all the releases and new deals.

Wow Harrison led all 3-4 outside linebackers in tackles last year, had double digit sacks, and 6 forced fumbles, to go with 2 int. We can't say this man is over the hill based on last year's performance.

Has it not occurred to anyone that Rooneys are always tight against
the cap because it gives them an excuse to not spend more $? There are ways they could find more cap space, but they never seem interested in such ways, as it would lead to them spending more $. If they are against the cap, they can point at it, shrug their shoulders and say, "But what can we do about it?" and close the office door and take a nap. |

Key is we don't need Plex to win. We have Ward, Wallace, Sanders, Brown...Heath is there, I think Wesyle Saunders will make the roster and should be a good target. And we have a great set of RB, lets run and throw when needed and we will be okay.

To many contracts to older players...Probably 10 plus to players over 33...They cost more.

Knowing we're over makes me feel like none of us have any right to call the Rooneys cheap... What I want to know is how teams such as the Jets and Cheatriots can sign big name players like Santonio, Plex, Haynesworth, Chad Johnson, etc.....OK, maybe in NY their QB isn't making big time money yet cause he's young, so that frees up money, but what about in NE? I know they're Lord Goodell's pets, but isn't anyone else noticing how many big names they sign and still are under the cap?
