I know they're Lord Goodell's pets, but isn't anyone else noticing how many big names they sign and still are under the cap?
The Patriots roster is one of the youngest in the league.....Not stuck with many overpaid players.

How can the jets sign holmes, cromartie, edwards, tomlinson, bart scott, revis, etc and still have more room than we did for Plax. I can guarantee you that if we had offered similar money, he would be at Latrobe right now. We just couldn't offer the money. So my main question after this entire digression is, can someone explain how we are in such cap hell?

i wouldn't say he should be cut , but his salary should be reduced, and i'm sure it will be. since they cut eason there's no way they can cut smith, they need the depth for rotation.

Yeah, they really need the depth in rotation but he has to take a pay cut. I was surprised when I saw 6 mil for Smith, somehow I thought he was getting paid 4 but anyways, he was definitely worth 6 mil a few years ago but not now between all the time he's missed (and the time he'll likely miss with a injury again this season) and Ziggy stepping up, it's too much.

Im hoping a decent CB gets cut, highly unlikely I guess.

But Smith and Foote just have no place here imo. After what ziggy did last year, where do we show a need to keep Smith? Has he been great, sure. But there is a time and a place to say adios and the time is now. Foote? I say zero need for him as we are stacked at LB and Farrior has shown no sign of slowing up.

We can lock up some long term deals, slice some dead weight and be looking great heading into next year without making a sacrifice. Plus we will probably lose Ward next year or potentially lose him do to his age.

Timmons, Woodley and Troy need to get squared away before each has a nother huge year. Timmons should still be reasonable. Woodley needs a 10year cap friendly gig till year 3-4 of the contract.

Since when do you pay a back up LB $3 mill? Or a 36-year old LB $3.8 mill? Or
a DE who is always hurt $6 mill? Or a back up DE $4 mill? No Fing wonder
we don't have cap space. That is retarded. That is $17 mill right there that
is being spent moronically.

This is my first post ever, so take it for what it's worth. The Steelers have an excellent past when it comes to resigning their better players at a "less-than-market rate". If they become a major player in the free agent market you can forget about resigning their players at a "less-than-market rate" because their current players will feel slighted since the signed a "below-market" contract. Players love playing for the Steeler organization, and will take a little less to stay.

We all wanted better CB's, but imagine what would have happened if we paid for one ofthe top two CB's in free agency (Asomugha or Cromartie) to huge contracts? You might as well forget signing Timmons or Woodley to any reasonable contract! Polamalu would ask for the moon when his contract is up!

The Steelers win almost every year because they are very loyal to their drafted players, who have played wel, and when the do sign a free agent it is usually a second tier free agent! I prefer it this way, and I wouldn't trade it for them being active in the free agent market.

Go Steelers!
