I think in the long run though with the way the steelers ST coverage has looked, it will help get more TB's at Heinz Field. Steelers love 'em some field position battles, so it could help.
With that said, I still think it should go back to the way it was. One time last night I saw a kickoff advanced past the 20 (Seattle got a TD). Most were touchbacks through the endzone and the poor soul that tried to run one got stopped at the 13. Kick offs are a lot less exciting and I HATE the new rule. Screw Goodell!!! |

i miss it already...isnt it their goal to get ratings up? but yet they get rid of one of the most exciting parts of the game potentially? who doesn't like seeing a kick return for a td or even just a big gain?! its exciting! now we get to see touchbacks, seriously why not just get rid of them entirely now and just start the drive automatically at the 20

Hell, as I was watching the games last night, it occurred to me that our kick
coverage is usually a sore spot, generally speaking. So, I welcome us not having to actually cover kicks. On the balance, this will help us more than hurt us. In the last 15 years, our kick coverage has been poor, and sometimes, downright pathetic. Thumbs up for us! |

I am glad they moved the ball up. Our kickers can't kick for shit, hell, even Reed couldn't put the ball deep. This helps out the Steelers and their poor special teams. Over the past few years ST has cost us at least one game or more.
GOOD RULE, hell with KR TDs.

I can't help but agree that this helps us. However, I would rather it be like it was. The excitment of kick returns. So im torn both ways haha

it helps us this is great news! you know why?
#1 we suck at kicking off #2 our KR coverage always has been an achilles heel one can say that we've lost big games, even an afc championship game against the patriots because we shit the bed on special teams coverage. i like this new rule, i dunno about you guys |

I do think it benefits the Steelers although it adds an extra layer of boredom to the game itself.
So a team scores, then the network cuts away for 2 minutes of commercials killing any of the excitement. Then the kicker kicks one through the endzone and the network cuts away for another 2 minutes of commercials. It's the most boring time of the game besides halftime now. |

I'm going to revise my previous statement and say, it SHOULD help us immensely. Kickoff coverage tonight was just god awful despite the new rule though. Still don't have a good feeling about ST's this year.
