Thaddeus Gibson was awarded to the Redskins on waivers. The Bears and the Steelers both put claims in for him. Luckily the Redskins saved the front office a grievous blunder as they tried to bring back a player that they never wanted to get rid of in the first place who was cut by another team. Thank Dan Snyder today for allowing Kevin Colbert to dodge a bullet.

Wouldn't getting him back constitute dodging the bullet?

My post was sarcastic. I see you're having trouble understanding my posts through multiple threads now...

I think you're confusing sarcasm with an inability to say what you mean.

I was sarcastically stating that Colbert dodged a bullet because others earlier were saying that Gibson being cut by the 49ers proved that he couldn't play. Therefore, it would have been a bullet to pick up a player that has already shown that he can't make it. Pretty simple stuff here.

However, I do agree that the true bullet was him being released by the Steelers to begin with. There were other options to get McClendon onto the roster and the team could have used this past year's 5th round pick on another position instead of drafting Chris Carter.

Granted not canning Smith last year and putting him on IR, in hindsight was a bad move. But at least Gibson proved he couldn't cut it, on someone elses dime.
