what is your definition of big plays? TDs? game winning TDs. passes over a certain amount of yards?

My observation is based on watching the preseason games. He was rarely open.

Using the word "burned" is a loaded term indicating an exceptionally bad play. By "burn" you mean "pass caught against". And by that metric Bryant McFadden allowed the 4th highest completion percentage when targeted in the league last year. Yet he fared pretty well in YPA and YPC, and was not in the bottom 20 (meaning I don't know exactly where he was, to be completely honest) CBs in terms of completions allowed per plays in coverage.

McFadden didn't lose his job. He injured his arm and he was gradually worked back into the lineup, splitting time with Gay. I excluded Gay from the conversation about CBs lower on the depth chart because he is not an outside corner, which he proved in 2009. It's highly possible that he never plays a conventional down on the outside for the rest of his career.

Foote was not released. He signed a one year deal. He didn't want to re-sign with the Lions. And I couldn't give less of a shit how he performed when he was with the Lions. I'm talking about last season, and if you actually watched last season while he was in the game, he did play very well. Also don't forget that he had to play out of position in a 4-3 while he was with the Lions. Here's what Pro Football Focus had to say about Foote in the week 17 game recap against the Browns:

Quote:
Larry Foote (+2.5) is some insurance policy for the Steelers; each time Foote has seen sustained action off the bench this season he’s come up with, at worst, a solid display. Foote spurned a starting role to return to Pittsburgh as a backup, and to have such a quality all-around defender as a backup is a rare treat. Foote graded positively in run defense, pass coverage and as a pass-rusher on Sunday, with the sack, hit and pressure being his strongest impact. Does Foote yet have a key role to play for the Steelers in the playoffs?
As a bonus, here's what they said after the Dolphins game:

Quote:
Larry Foote (+2.9) was one of three Steeler inside linebackers to impress as Dick LeBeau‘s interior defense dominated the middle. All three Steelers’ ILB graded above +2.0 overall (James Farrior +3.1, Lawrence Timmons +2.4), but Foote’s grade on 18 snaps was particularly impressive. The RILB registered a sack and two pressures on only five blitzes. All three of his tackles were stops and in coverage he surrendered a solitary 5-yard reception. It was interesting (to say the least) to see Foote leave a starting role in Detroit to return to a backup role in Pittsburgh, but if he continues to put in spot performances like this, Steelers fans won’t be disappointed.

Yes to all, with the certain amount of yards being 20.

Tyler Grisham is really Steely McBeam on stilts. That's why he is still on the practice squad.
