Default Keenan Lewis

Everyone's talking about how Ike had a great game (which he did), but I'm curious on what the game tape showed on Keenan Lewis.

He comes in the game when they go to the nickel packages, but they were in the nickel for a good portion of the night, maybe more than 50% of the plays, and he was only targeted 3 times. He gave up 2 completions, but that was after dick lebeau went into 'prevent' mode and was playing off.

I'm sure as hell that Kerry Collins wouldn't have been challenging Ike Taylor all game if Lewis and Gay weren't doing a good job covering their assignments. Perhaps he's the answer over b-mac after all?

We'll see what happens this weekend. Secondary play has looked improved, but one could debate it wasn't against a top-tier passing attack. BUT, you can also say that it was only a matter of time before a veteran like Collins would click with a talented wr corps. The fact Lewis and Gay handled the likes of Wayne, Collie, and Garcon are nothing to sneeze at. Actually the biggest blown coverage all game was done by our #1 CB, which we gladly didn't have to pay for.

Also I'll admit I've been too harsh on gay. He's no superstar but as a nickel back it can be a lot worse. I will say though he's a better cover corner than mcfadden.

for sure. glad he's starting to come into his own. anyone who can cover mike wallace on a fly route and not get burned definitely has the physical tools to compete in the NFL, I was just concerned about his mental issues. He's played well in the last 2 weeks.

Our CBs had a good game because their QBs were bad. But this is the pros and any good performance is good.

Something that should appeal to most B-Mac detractors: if you watch Lewis when he's in the game, he plays up on the line in man coverage fairly often.

Unfortunately I don't get opportunities to rewatch games, so I have to take my initial observations and line them up with what others have to say. From what I saw, I didn't notice him much after the snap, and that's usually a good thing.

if we can get good press coverage out of him and ike that would help the pass rush immensely.

Isn't that just another way of saying the Colts had the #32 pass offense in week 3?

He didn't have any penalties for failing to get back in bounds on punt coverage; so yeah, he had a good game.
