I'm slightly encouraged to watch the show hearing how the rape scene made people uncomfortable (as rape should make people feel uncomfortable). I watch a lot of shows on HBO and a lot of the sex scenes seem forced in the sense that HBO is just saying "Please watch our show, there's a lot of boobies in it!" Those scenes do little to nothing in terms of advancing the story. I'll probably have to start at the beginning on Netflix and get caught up. I'm sure my wife won't want to watch because she hates horror stuff (mainly because she's easily scared by them.)

The prior seasons aren't connected at all. It's like a brand new show with the same cast every season, but I would definitely watch the previous two seasons as they're really good albeit a little on the messed up side.

I'm not sure how I feel about this season yet. The whole episode was really disjointed. Definitely the worst start to any season.

What I liked: Kathy Bates and her Bathory obsession. LOVE IT. Jessica Lange did very well, as always.

What I didn't like: Evan Peters. Someone needs to really give him voice lessons. How does someone, whose mother is from the 9th ward, have a deep Boston accent? May seem trivial to others, but it really bothered me. Make the character fit if you are going to cast them. Even if he's supposed to be some descendant from Salem (which is the only way I see them saving that), he obviously grew up in NO. The thick Boston accent was atrocious.

Didn't care about anyone but the villians (Bates and Lange), so that's a bad start for me in and of itself.

I'll keep watching to see if it gets better, but so far, the story (IMO) is contrived and sloppily put together.

Per the rape scene...if you've ever watched Law and Order SVU, you've seen it. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Creepiest was Kathy Bates painting her face with blood to make herself look younger (Elizabeth Bathory). Other than that, not much creep factor for the normal horror fan.

Go back and watch the first two seasons though...they were really good.

this show is always about the visuals - the best part in fact

Horror, sex, violence and beautiful cinematography - the storyline is secondary to me in this series - the show looks gorgeous

btw - the Buckner house in NOLA is the setting for the academy - you can rent it out for $20,000 a month

My wife and I hate-watch SVU. The most recent episode was basically Paula Deen shooting Trayvon Martin. It's like the writers aren't even trying anymore.

I'll have to squeeze this in once I finish the latest Breaking Bad (another show I have to watch without my wife) episodes on Netflix.

I have to watch a lot of stuff before the hubby, so I understand. I get tired of waiting for him to be ready to watch stuff.

Agree about SVU. And on a similar note, this weeks South Park was about Trayvon Martin as well. It was funny, but they are funniest when they aren't fishing so hard.

Another thing that bothered me... the "lalalala" song throughout the episode. Quit trying so hard. You have good story ideas, go with it and quit trying to force it.

There were visuals? Even the worst NBC show can pull off those visuals in this episode.

Sorry, I know I sound bitter (and I am a bit), but it was a seriously disappointing episode. It has nothing on the first two seasons.
