Yeah, this episode was good but, not "season finale" good. Not much more of a cliff hanger then a regular episode. Only we have to wait a lot longer this time. And Carl....Will some one or some thing kill Carl? I'm so sick of that little twerp. He finally got tolerable again then, after the attack, he gets all pouty again. Just fuckin die, Carl.

I have a feeling Carl is going to go all psycho next season. He makes that statement that he's a monster so I have a feeling Carl is going to be a bigger part of this next season and not such a wuss.

'The Walking Dead' EPs explain why they included Carl's Season 4 finale rape scene

For fans of "The Walking Dead" who aren't current on the Robert Kirkman comic books, the almost-rape of Carl Grimes in the Season 4 finale likely came as a massive shock. Considering Carol put Lizzie down only two episodes before, putting one of the child stars of the AMC series in such a disturbing situation made it seem like "The Walking Dead" was going darker than it ever had before.

And, in many ways, the Season 4 finale was the darkest the series has ever been. But that rape scene is almost a frame-for-frame re-creation of what happens to Carl in the comics, and it's something showrunner Scott Gimple and Kirkman never planned on shirking from in the TV series.

"That scene has always been a really difficult one," Kirkman tells TVLine. "When I was writing the original comics, in the panel description for artist Charlie Adlard I [wrote], 'Carl is on his back, and the guy is pulling his paints off -- but don't worry Charlie, he's not going to get raped!' I actually included that in the panel description because it is such a heavy and dark scene, and I didn't want Charlie to be freaking out while he was trying to draw that.

"When it came time to adapt that for the show, we are trying to realistically portray the kind of things that would happen after the fall of civilization. We try not to shy away from the depths that people can sink to in various situations. It's not like we're portraying things that don't, unfortunately, happen in real life. We're not really pushing the envelope too far. It is a fine line that we're trying to walk here, between being realistic and also being unrelentingly dark and morbid."

Expect to see Carl and Rick deal with the aftermath of Carl nearly being raped in Season 5, even if the group currently has bigger problems to deal with -- like being trapped in Terminus by maybe-cannibals.

"It will not be glossed over," Kirkman tells The Hollywood Reporter. "This is not a show that introduces things like that into a character's past and then doesn't deal with them. It will be very much at the forefront when it comes to Rick, Carl and even Daryl's character as we move forward."

The turn of events came after Carl came to terms with the fact that he isn't the sweet boy his father hopes he can be. "What's interesting and tragic -- and this is something we were going for from the start of the season -- is that he would wind up with a very mature self-awareness. He's worried about being a monster, but the fact that he's worried about that is actually wonderful for this kid," Gimple tells The Hollywood Reporter.

"[Carl] was a kid that was going down a road where he wasn't going to have one. It's not an awesome victory with Journey blasting 'Anyway You Want It' after it. It's really sad but also a wonderful thing that we saw Carl recognizing and worried about his own humanity. When that gentleman with the glasses was screaming -- which was directly out of the comics, including the same bite -- Carl ran to help without thinking. He's made a lot of progress."

Great episode. Finally the darker side of the Walking Dead that makes the comics so great. I love the show but I was starting to feel like they were dumbing it down too much for TV. They've always had the zombie gore and everything but the darker more evil things you'd expect to see in an apocalypse type situation that you see frequently in the comics seem to be curiously absent at times in the TV adaptation of the series.

So excited for next season. I hate that we had to end on a cliffhanger, but that's been their trademark of sorts.

I felt the same way. I looked at the clock, realized the show was over and said, "That's it?"

The best scene for me was when Rick went all Hannibal Lecter on that guy. Loved it! At first, I thought Rick had been shot and quickly turned. It's good to know he learned something from the walkers. That was badass!

Where is Tara's sister? The one who was in love with the Governor.

I think that girl just went her own separate way. Maybe we'll see her later on, though I doubt it.

Good episode, but it left me a little empty. It didn't feel like a season finale. The episode where Carol has to kill Lizzie would have been a much better and more gut-wrenching way to end the season.

Still, I'm excited to see the new war start and how they will go about getting free. Overall great season that leaves me wanting more. I can't wait!

During the episode where Glenn found Tara, as well as episode before the last one, Tara said that she watched Lilly (her sister) get swarmed and devoured by walkers after she killed the Governor.

That said, remember the rule of fiction: If we don't see a body, he/she ain't dead.

I'm glad we finally have a significant amount of muscle in the group. The best we had before (at one time) was:

Rick
Shane
Daryl
T-Dog
Glenn (pre-heartthrob badass days)
Andrea

Now, we've got:

Rick (now with Hannibal Lecter chomping action!)
Daryl (even more pissed off than normal)
Michonne (all we really need :chuckle)
Glenn (heartthrob badass version)
Tyreese (big enough to scare a cannibal)
Carol (who will straight up murder every cannibal child)
Maggie (Lara Croft edition)
Abraham fucking Ford
Tara (fueled by peeks down Rosita's shirt)

Aaaaand possibly Rosita.

This is gonna get good.

I know the season is over, but I got to go to Awesome Con yesterday. I met IronE Singleton, who was really cool and nothing at all like T-Dog. I was shocked, because most actors I've met and worked with resemble (mannerisms- and personality-wise) their characters at least a little. This was not the case at all with IronE. The dude was really down to earth and seemed genuinely happy to meet fans. He didn't even sit behind his table, he stood up and shook hands with and hugged every fan who came up. You would have thought you'd known the guy.

This was unlike David Yost, the original blue Power Ranger. David really seemed like he was hating life, even with Walter Jones (the original black Power Ranger) jumping up and running to David's table to jump in his fans' photos. Walter even took a fan's skateboard and skated around a while, and seemed real excited to be there.

Then came the grand finale. @Lady Steel can probably guess who I met.

Yeah. Carol. Melissa freakin' McBride. When my girlfriend told me Melissa would be there, I was dead set on going. I brought something specifically for her, which really took her aback, and she was saying she felt horrible for keeping it and couldn't. But I told her I had brought it specifically for her since she was far and away my favorite character on the show (my brother and girlfriend jumped in and told her I was coming to the con just for that). She took it, then signed autographs for all of us, and kept us around a good 10-15 minutes goofing off with is (a lot longer than others who had gone up). She was really funny and way more awesome than I had expected, and again, nothing like Carol. She and IronE were real testaments to the acting ability on the show. After her episode on The Talking Dead, I expected a mild-mannered, calm, polite woman. She was energetic, funny, and really quirky. When she asked if we were gonna do the photo op later, we told her it was sold out, so she quietly asked her handler if she could squeeze us in if we got in line, and the handler said we could. So an hour later, we got to jump in for the photo op, and I went home with plenty of Carol memorabilia. And a hug.

Never before had I been starstruck, but I admittedly was very much so this time. And now I'll be twice as pissed if they kill her off.

Unfortunately, though, we didn't get to meet Danai Gurira, though we did spot her walking around a lot. We left her alone though, since that seemed like it was a kind of break time for the actors and actresses.

So, yeah. Yesterday happened.

*Edit* My bad, Lady Steel and Steel City Mom. I mixed up the women!
