Default Coaching Issues!!!

a.) Why it took Haley more than a year to figure out that Foster can't pull; and
b.) If Foster's problem is only dropping his head, why hasn't the line coach corrected that? (Personally I think he's just too slow.)

DeCastro seems to pull pretty well. He struggles mano-a-mano in pass protection and straight ahead run blocking.

the standard is the standard, if alan faneca could do it then surely foster should be able to do it. by golly we're gonna run the same plays as if alan was there

Ummm I believe this may be a player issue, once the coach gives you the playbook, the player should do everything within their power to ensure they can execute based upon the team's needs and the coaches expectations. I have heard playing to a player's strengths but never to an offensive lineman.

Why not an OL? We have a square peg/round hole sitcheation here. Foster is a mauler, no more. The playbook is NOT going to make him any faster. We've watched him for over a year now.

wrong.

the position coach is there to coach, teach, instruct, motivate, and correct mistakes/improve technique.

players all have limitations but the coach is there to maximixe their talents to full potential.

Why DeCastro doesn't pull every other snap is a mystery to me. Seriously, look at how he pulls left and mauls guys up field. Ridiculous.

Tony, I would lick my wounds and say you are right if you were talking about a rookie here, in this case we are not talking about a rookie, this veteran knows what is expected of him, he knows what the standard is and it is his job to execute. If he is struggling then maybe he needs to spend a little more time after practice with the coach to fix these issues. After all, he accepts a paycheck every week, if he can't get past this problem, then maybe he needs to give some of his check back to the orginization.

A coach's FIRST job is to assess talent. What can the player do? How well? THEN a coach teachs and corrects. If a player just can't do something, then don't ask him to do it. Maximize utilization of the things that he can do. Belacheat is famous for that, and so was Shula.

DD should pull on every play.

His assets are speed & agility. He is like a 305 lb fullback. Get him through the hope (or outside) and into the second-level... where he can turn 3 yard runs into 10 yard runs.
