Good discipline and leadership start at the top.

...Half of these players are fuzzy nutted youngsters in their early 20's who are immature and NEED leadership and discipline imo.

Do it in a team meeting or one on one.

Don't do it while you are auditioning for your next job with ESPN.

And if you are going to call someone out for their shortcomings take care of doing your own job first

enter ben roethlisberger.

manning leads the broncos. brees leads the saints. brady leads the patriots. ray lewis led the ravens.

ben spats with clark, questions his #1 RB's work ethic, complains about the playbook, and takes away the ping pong paddles from the fuzzy nutters.

Part of the problem is when Ben came in as a rookie you had strong personalities on the team who already were leaders (Porter, Faneca) and after they left Farrior and Hines carried that role until they left

Meanwhile Ben was ignoring the coaches' requests to quit riding motorcycles without a helmet, getting accused of sexual assault, and working with an OC whom players, specifically Ward, thought was putting Ben's interests in front of the team's interests

All that has been taken away after Ben got used to someone else doing the heavy lifting and he may not have the skill set to do it

It is not necessary for the QB to be the main leader (Bradshaw lost his job at the start of the first Super Bowl season and I always thought Greene and Lambert ruled that locker room) but it certainly helps

Clark was wrong for going public with his complaints but my guess is the belief Ben needs to do less free lancing has been building in that locker room for years

First off you don't voice negative opinions about your team to the public. Second, Clark kinda sucks this year, and if Ben "toned it down" our defense would look even worse. Seems like the only time we score TD's and convert 3rd downs is when Ben scrambles out and makes a play. We likely would only have 2 or 3 TD's in the first 4 games combined if Ben wasn't improvising. Meanwhile Clark is back there out of place and hasn't made a tackle at the LOS in ever.

If AtlantaDan is correct and the locker room has been thinking that for years, which is backed up by Harrison's comments a few years ago, then they need to look no further then the Maddox and Kent Graham debacles where a great defense AND THE BUS couldn't get them into the playoffs.
