I think KS had talent to play QB but he was a headcase. Just one of those guys who cracked under pressure. I'll never forget that collapse against Denver after I thought he'd finally figured it out.

But, he was definitely good enough to be a #2 or #3 receiver. I don't blame anyone (including Tebow) who decides they want to play only one position even if that means they're out of football forever. Collin Klein from K-State is the same way. He could probably get signed as a TE, but he'd rather not play football than not play at QB.

I agree Slash would've been a descent 2 or 3 receiver, but wouldn't it have been great to use him consistantly at RB with the option to pass. El on one side Hines on the other Slash at RB, opposing teams would definitely have to be on their toes.

Read-option with Kordel and Bettis would have been the deadliest thing known to man!

i have too many good memories to be a kordell hater. when someone mentions him, my first random thought is the longest run by a qb in NFL history vs carolina (this may have been tied or broken by mike vick vs washington(?) on MNF-

2nd random thought is him having the 2nd longest run (76 yds?) vs the ravens on a day he had 2 rushing td's and 3 passing.

the next random thoughts are his regular season wins in '97 vst the patriots and broncos (both sb teams) that helped propel us to the championship game (unfortunately he also lost to both these teams in the playoffs).

slash at rb-

i think about his TD reception as a rookie to help beat the playoff dynasty bills and essentially end their run in '95. (sure he stepped on the line in the back of the endzone, but we won).

slash at wr-

another random though is in 2000? after losing his job, playing vs the raiders, getting injured (much to the pleasure of the fans), leaving the game, and coming back into the game after half to burn the raiders with a killer play and lead the team to victory.

his losses in 97 and 01 sucked but 2 plays completely changes his fortune. elway to sharpe on 3rd and 7. (OC's also screwed kordell and jerome when they took the ball out of jeromes hands and decided to get cute and air it out).

joey porter dropping a wide open, gift interception (that woulda been run back for a TD) from drew bledsoe. (never mind our complete special teams melt down).

He had some good years here at QB. And despite popular belief, our loss to N.E. in the 2001 AFCCG was NOT his fault. We lost that game on special teams.

I think he could have been an excellent WR. And yes, even today.

Today, he'd be playing for Belichick and filling Wes Welker's old role.

Man, the crazy thing is that it doesn't even look like he's running at full steam there. Sure, he's striding, but he makes it look so effortless. That's like 80% speed, tops for Slash.

Ugh. That third down is forever branded in my brain. I cried like such a little bitch after the Steelers lost that game. Ah, to be 11 and so irrationally passionate again... NOT!

Still, that was one of the plays (along with Elway's helicopter run) that made me respect the Broncos. No shame in getting beat by an epic team like that. As time has gone by, I have only admired the 96-98 Denver Broncos more. Those cap-circumventing sons of bitches were built to WIN; and how they did!
