Default When was the last time the Steelers Offense scored more than 3 TDS?

Their currently at a 1.5 TD per game clip. I'm trying to recall when this team has scored more than 3 TDs in a game. This isn't about points so I am not counting FGs.

This is about TDs, something they struggle to do. The 3 TD mark seems to be their ceiling. I can't seem to find the stats out there on this so if there are any stats guys...thx!

Games that come to mind are a blowout against Balt and the 500 yd performance by Ben against the pack. Those games were in 2010 I think.

Fuck man Id settle for a couple of 1st downs to start the game so that we're not immediately behind the eight ball in field position.

We have to be the crappiest opening possession team in the league. Im sick of the lack of killer instinct at the starts and always being the team that gets punched in the face 1st.

The last time the Steelers offense scored 4 TDs was Week 3, 2012 against...the Raiders.

The last time the Steelers offense scored 4 TDs in a win was Week 13, 2011 against the Bengals.

we scored 3 TD's against he Vikings. Bell had 2 and Cotchery had one. Unfortunately we lost that one. I know it hasn't happened often lately, but I think that was the last time.

Edit: Sorry, reread your post and saw you're looking for 'more than 3 TDs'.

Funny..I was wondering today the last time we have scored 30 pts in a game with our offense.

It's an offensive league now. The days of winning when your offense scores fewer than twenty pts are over. We can barely score in double digits most games nowadays

They did it vs. the Vikes in London, no?

Wait... you said MORE than 3 TDs...

Still, you're right. The frequency which it occurs, even at 3 TD's a game, is diminished.

Since the skid last year (week 11) the Steelers are 4-10 and have scored three TDs only four times (1-3 in those games).

The offense is broken.

Right. That was a frustrating loss. Not as long ago as I thought. I still think that it is a rare occurrence. Well, at least it feels that way...

I've been tracking the NFL pretty nerdishly (extensive spreadsheets, etc) for about six years now.

The threshold for victory, the 'magic number', is 21 to 23 points scored.

When teams score 21 or more points they tend to win at an increased rate (around 75%). Therefore it stands to reason that 23 increases that % to above 80.

If the Steelers could manage 21 pts/game they'd be 3-4 or 4-3 right now.

We're middle of the pack on converting 3rd downs:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/te...irdDownConvPct

unfortunately that hasn't helped translate into points, we're near the bottom in scoring:

Probably due to the terrible turnover differential.
