Default The Timeout

Was possibly season ending. For all the frustrations and missed opportunities that happened in the first three quarters, we were gaining some momentum in the 4th quarter. The Raiders offense wasn't doing jack shit in the 4th quarter, and we do this type of game management? This was so bad I would almost call it a fireable offense. Beyond frustrated, 2-5 and the season is over.

The timeout didn't cost us the game. Having another one at the end would not have meant squat. The game was lost when we didn't get points when we should have. Stop looking for shit to in all the wrong places. Once again, we didn't score points on a team that gives up plenty to other teams offensive schemes.

Cut the bullshit.

The timeout was the nail in the coffin.

Still, it would have only saved, what? 35 seconds at most?

With 0:53 and no timeouts and with the offense that Haley was calling, it's unlikely that the Steelers drive 60+ yards for a game-tying FG (especially with Suisham rattled after missing two chippys).

It was a dumb mistake that exposes Tomlin's lack of game management, but saying it cost the game is like complaining about not getting a farewell mint after being served uncooked chicken, soup with a hair in it, beer that tastes like dog piss and being served by a mongoloid.

If there are 3 timeouts they had the option of kicking deep and getting the ball back with a minute left around their own 30-40

It did not lose the game but was not irrelevant

And it was the ultimate display of how unfocused the team was all day

But agreed this offense is bad - 19, 19 and 18 points the past 3 games is trash

yep, it all comes down to scoring points when you've got the chance. There's not some little scheming going on in the minds of the coaches that's going to pull off a win at the last minute, and you can't count on some hero to step up and make a big game winning play.

convert third downs, win the turnover battle, stop other teams on 3rd downs, and score more points than that other team.

I think the timeout hurt so much, because someone on the team has to be smarter than that. If Ben is trying to call it, the coaches need to be jumping up and down telling him to just take the penalty. I watch other teams manage a game and a clock, so much better than we do.
I think it's a combination of poor coaching and having a QB who didn't score all that great on his Wonderlic test.

It was definitely a very bad example of game management but I am not sure that would have saved us anyway.

It's a 60 minute effort every game. 100+ plays in any given game means 100+ chances to build toward winning or losing a game. No one game is ever hinged upon one thing.

Sure, the timeout sucked, but so did the roughly 60 minutes' worth of suckage from every player (except Troy).

The fact of the matter is, this team needs a new scheme for the offense, a wholesale revamp of the special teams, and the defense to get back to its roots. They need to start playing as if they want to win, and not as if they want to just run the play and get it over with.

What happened? What's the context? I left at half. Had better things to do and didn't want my Sunday ruined. I see they made it close for Vegas.

I can only talk about the 4-th Quarter, which was bitter-sweet, to say the least.

But even though we had gawd-awful ball mgmt, and terrible clock mgmt, not to mention wasting a time out, interceptions and fumbles everywhere, I was absolutely amazed that we even scored, as close as we did, near the end.
Ben was holding the ball way tooo loooong again, but then again, the O protection didn't provide any miracles either.
I think our Defense was only on the field twice in that entire 4th-Quarter, and the Raiders Offense was non-existent.

I have no idea, how bad or good our "D" was during the 1st-half of the game, cause I missed that all.

4th Quarter summary: ... bitter-sweet, - looked like the "Paris Peace Talks" between Ben and Haley broke down again. -LoL

Ben, and the "O" tried to "pull the rabbit outta the hat" but it was ALL too little, with too many mistakes, too late. :(
