No way they should extend him other than as a backup. My fear is that they play him and don't reboot now.
All the Ben numbers don't realize he is not a top 15 QB, too error prone.

I bet Bruce has a cleaner game, gets sacked less, and moves the ball.

Look at Jason Campbell with the Browns. All the other QBs get sacked 1 in 10 or less drop backs and for some reason he is only sacked 1 in 60 drop backs, with the same line and they score points just the same.
Ben is part of the problem with the running game, the sacks, the turnovers. His first half numbers are abysmal and than garbage time fantasy points take over.

Put a fork in him and reboot.

4th highest winning percentage of any QB in the last fifty years... behind Brady, Montana, Manning... and then BB.

And that is after this horrible 4-11 stretch (dating back to his injury last season).

All true, but do you think Ben would really leave Pittsburgh? His wife and her family are from New Castle, and they have a new baby on the way. Family is important in western Pennsylvania. His wife also has her own career as a physician's assistant at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in cardiac surgery, or at least she did. I don't know if she's still working or not.

Oh, I don't know either! It's a tough call.

To be with Arians, yes, I could see him moving to wherever Arians would be coaching.

I have no doubt that'd be the destination if Ben were traded. Arians would trade his left nut for Roethlisberger. That team would instantly be more respectable offensively if Ben was under center. Roethlisberger and Fitzgerald would make a good combination. I hope that doesn't happen.

Fitzgerald will be taking a hometown discount to stay - either that or he'll leave. I could see Ben at the Cardinals for relationship sake alone although you gotta think he might look at that O-line and targets and consider it even worse.

No one is mentioning the Texans. I could see Ben with that line, that running game and those WRs - he could actually help put that team over the top.

I could equally see him staying if they dump enough of the other vets

Based on what, his 52.9% career completion rate or his 21 TDs against 24 INTs over his career?

Actually, you know what? This fanbase DESERVES Gradkowski.

teegre,

Ben has been fortunate to have a good team around him and the #1 statistical defense for years. He has been serviceable and great in some stretches no doubt, but highly overrated imho by many die hards, of which I am one.

Would you say Archie Manning was one of the worst QBs ever because his team lost every year. Even though he won an MVP.

I'm suggesting Ben no longer gets extended at top tier qb money. There are only about 10 teams who would choose him as their starting QB now over what they have.

fansince 76',

yep. he did that on horrible teams and looked good when I last saw him roll out of the pocket and not take 7 sacks a game and toss the ball up out of the endzone and fumble it a few times a game. Actually, when Ben throws a pick 6 against Buffalo, what is the excuse this time, the o line, tomlin, hayley, the GM for not drafting better (which is true). When is it Ben's fault and time to try someone else. Just let me know what you need to see for that to happen. Ben blew quite a few games last year or they were in the playoffs and he is a big reason they don't beat the weak teams imo. Enough with the stats, watch the games.

Play Moye already!
